Oh please, it's not really "insurrection", more like a rioting mob. I hate when people dishonestly use inappropriate words. Anyway, thank goodness the country has the Electoral College, because if it didn't then the argument could have actually been made here that those rioters were right. (Something many people don't seem to be able to realize, and I doubt most of those people would have rioted if they had realized that)
Lol. My mother's still going strong at 82. Still drives and works from home. I hope I have her longevity gene.
Some of what you "saw" was dishonestly portrayed to you in the news. Are all riots "insurrection" in your mind? I know this riot broke into the capitol, but are there some double standards here?
Good Question! INSURRECTION?: After Antifa Group Tweets ‘Burn the Schools,’ Arsonists Target Portland School Building.
Nothing was portrayed. I was here having a conversation when they took Pence away. Everybody doesn't rely on the press to know what they saw.
I suppose the same excitement the trump group got by saying the riots were Antifa and BLM. This story is true, the trumpers story was a lie. Big news.
A puppet that beat an incumbent. Very hard to do. But much easier when impeached 2X and failed as a leader of the country. Especially the pandemic.
For one who doesn't care about the riot to overthrow American democracy, you sure post alot about forgetting about it.
in·sur·rec·tion /ˌinsəˈrekSH(ə)n/ Learn to pronounce noun a violent uprising against an authority or government. I too hate it when people fail to look up definitions and ignorantly accuse others of dishonesty. Those people rioted because they had been told for four years this was only their country and they were the silent majority. When it dawned on them neither of those things were true they had one of the biggest tantrums in recent memory. Even without the EC their argument would still not have been valid.
Why can none of you look up definitions? The internet is fairly simple to use... It is just willful at this point
Klein, 42, worked in the Office of Brazilian and Southern Cone Affairs at the time of the riot and held a top-secret security clearance, according to an affidavit obtained by CBS News. He was seen in body cam and other video footage physically clashing with police, the court document said. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/federico-klein-trump-appointee-arrested-capitol-riot/ A trump appointee with a top secret security clearance.
Definition of insurrection : an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/insurrection I hate when people don't know the definition of a word and complain about it.
Maybe what you saw was dishonest. But what most of America saw was actual, much of it live. Much posted by the insurrectionists themselves. You ask are all riots insurrections? What. Get a dictionary.
They support trump. You can't expect them to be informed or even be able to look up a definition of a word.
That's not a contradiction(also, the 'overthrow American democracy' is political hyperbole not proven in the court of law.). The reality is quite opposite from Pelosi's imagination. That's why there's a push by people to end the charade at the Capitol. There's going to be political leverage by political actors, that's what they do but what we as citizens must do peacefully is speak out against them taking the political leverage and using it to create a Reichstag fire event.
If we were just going by dictionary definitions, then all sorts of things could be considered "terrorism" that people ordinarily would not consider to be "terrorism". You are moving down a dangerous slippery slope.
The alternative is making up our own definitions for how we feel about a particular incident. Definitions have meaning, they are there for a purpose, don’t be surprised when people call you out for making up your own
I believe this is an asinine argument. Those definitions were not meant to apply in a catch-all literal manner. Unfortunately, language can not always simply capture such concepts. What you are doing here is the same type of thing that corrupt prosecuters do to come up with trumped up charges. There are different types and different degrees of meaning. Are you going to call a sex ed teacher a "terrorist" for showing kids graphic pictures of STDs so they will be more hesitant about having sex?
Are you serious? Did they blow the student up? Did they use violence with political aims? Then no, I would not call them a terrorist You really really doing like the actions of the trump cult (note to mods, I am referring to the ones on Jan 6) committing an act of insurrection being acknowledged do you? Almost like y’all want to imagine it never happening. Words have consequences and the entire world watched those consequences unfold.
This is really, really simple. Had the crowd of cultists marched past the Capitol and into one of the suburbs there and started breaking windows, invading buildings attacking police and killing people this would have been a 'riot'. Given the population of that area it would also likely have been a 'massacre'...of Trump cultists. What made this an 'insurrection' was invading the Capitol, trying to stop the certification of the new President, threatening the safety of members of Congress etc. This really isn't difficult. People trying to equate this with any other riot are being deliberately misleading. We know it, they know it.
