The presidency of Donald Trump marked an unprecedented era in American politics, characterized by chaos, controversy, and a myriad of concerns regarding national security. From his erratic leadership style to his questionable ties with foreign entities, Trump's tenure in office raised significant alarms within the national security establishment. Look, I'm well aware of the flaws on the left, and we can debate them for hours, but the question is the scales, who tips the scales which equal 'threat to US national security'? My argument doesn't ignore the flaws of the left, but that Trump's malfeasance, overall, when put on a scale, far outweighs, in terms of overall threats to us national security, than that of Biden's misfires.

    1. Corruption and Foreign Interference: Trump's presidency was marred by allegations of corruption and conflicts of interest, particularly regarding his business dealings and potential leverage by foreign entities. His refusal to divest from his business empire created avenues for foreign governments and actors to influence US policies. The emoluments clause violations, wherein foreign dignitaries patronized Trump-owned properties, raised serious questions about the integrity of his decision-making process. Furthermore, the ongoing investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election underscored the vulnerability of American democracy to foreign interference under his leadership.

    2. Chaotic Leadership and Policy Instability: Nothing tests a president's leadership like a crisis, and Trump's response to the COVID-19 pandemic revealed significant shortcomings. His initial downplaying of the severity of the virus, contradictory messaging, and failure to implement a cohesive national strategy led to widespread confusion and mismanagement. The lack of centralized coordination, coupled with his penchant for blaming others and politicizing public health measures, hindered efforts to contain the spread of the virus and mitigate its impact on public health and the economy. While the CARES Act provided essential relief measures, Trump's overall handling of the pandemic exposed systemic weaknesses in crisis response and underscored the dangers of leadership driven by personal agendas rather than public welfare. Yes, I do acknowledge Trump fast-tracked the vaccines, but every president would have done the same so I'm not seeing bragging rights on that point.

    3. Failed Foreign Policy Ventures: Trump's foreign policy initiatives often prioritized short-term gains over long-term strategic interests, resulting in numerous failures and setbacks on the global stage. His unilateral withdrawal from international agreements such as the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris Climate Agreement weakened global alliances and diminished US influence. The erratic approach towards traditional allies, coupled with the cozying up to authoritarian regimes, strained diplomatic relations and emboldened adversaries. The haphazard handling of sensitive diplomatic issues, including the North Korean nuclear crisis and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, exacerbated tensions and raised the specter of armed conflict.

    4. Appeasement of White Supremacist Groups: Throughout his presidency, Trump consistently downplayed the threat posed by white supremacist groups and failed to condemn their violent actions unequivocally. His reluctance to address domestic extremism and racial polarization fueled societal divisions and undermined efforts to combat domestic terrorism. The Charlottesville incident, where Trump equivocated in condemning neo-Nazis and white nationalists, epitomized his failure to provide moral leadership and foster national unity in the face of hate-fueled violence.

    5. Financial Entanglements and National Security Risks: Trump's extensive financial indebtedness, including undisclosed loans and obligations to foreign entities, raised serious concerns about potential conflicts of interest and national security risks. The lack of transparency surrounding his personal finances and business dealings made him susceptible to manipulation and exploitation by foreign adversaries seeking to exert undue influence over US policies. The possibility of foreign leverage over the president through financial incentives or compromising information posed a grave threat to the integrity of American democracy and the security of the nation.
Contrastingly, Joe Biden, despite his flaws, presents a significantly lower risk to US national security compared to Trump. Biden's extensive experience in foreign policy and national security matters, gained during his tenure as Vice President under Barack Obama, instills confidence in his ability to navigate complex geopolitical challenges with prudence and diplomacy. His commitment to upholding democratic values, strengthening alliances, and restoring America's standing on the world stage aligns with the long-term strategic interests of the nation. Moreover, Biden's inclusive leadership style, emphasis on unity and bipartisanship, and unwavering dedication to upholding the rule of law and democratic norms offer a stark contrast to the divisive and erratic approach of his predecessor.

So, overall, it is my belief that the threat posed by Trump to US national security cannot be overstated, given his track record of corruption, chaotic leadership, foreign policy failures, appeasement of extremist groups, and financial entanglements. Electing Joe Biden as president represents a prudent choice for safeguarding America's interests and restoring stability, credibility, and security on the domestic and international fronts. Despite Trump's initial implementation of the CARES Act, Biden's American Rescue Plan demonstrates a more comprehensive and strategic approach to crisis management, emphasizing the importance of effective leadership in times of unprecedented challenges.

    So, let's discuss.

During the Trump Administration we were mostly at peace.

During the Biden Administration we have mostly been at war with Russia, although the soldiers being used are Ukrainian.

    We are not at war.
Trump's buddy Putin is at war.
Trump's buddy Netanyahu is at war.
    Trump's buddy Kim threatens war.

Perhaps you can see the pattern?

We are at war with Russia in almost all respects except actually supplying the soldiers. We are supplying the weapons, ammunition, intelligence, strategic guidance, tactical guidance, logistical aid, spare parts, training, funding for the Ukraine government, etc.

The US is the one of the largest if not the largest weapons dealer in the world.
We sell weapons to literally anyone willing to pony up the cash.

How many US soldiers are on the lines in Ukraine?

The US supplies weapons and government to Israel, is the US at war in GAZA?
The US supplies weapons and other aid to Taiwan, is the US at war in Taiwan?

Your fact free view of the world renders your opinions, not just wrong, but irrelevant.

So the worst thing you can come up with to attack this administration is to blame Biden because Putin invaded Russia. And that's your best response to defend a President* who put our national security intelligence at risk, who conspired with a foreign nation to intervene in our elections, who emboldened North Korea internationally and white supremacist groups locally, and who was responsible for at least HALF of the dead to this date for Covid given his poor handling of the crisis that caused the worst response in the world...

    I'll take it!

LOL. Wow. It is lefties who said Trump was going to start a bunch of wars and couldn't be trusted with the nuclear codes. Ever since Biden has been president we have been involved in numerous wars and are closer to a nuclear WWIII than we have been for decades.

Oh please.... You progressive hysterically told us that if we elected Trump in 2016 that he was going to start world war 3.

Not only did he not start world war 3 but he did not get us involved in any conflicts. And you sure as hell can't say the same thing for Biden.

This is just a tired rehash of the propaganda from 2016

Never mind the fact that we are currently and very openly engaged in a proxy war with a unstable nuclear world power

We aren't selling weapons to Ukraine on a cash and carry basis. The US is giving the weapons, ammunition and other means of fighting the war to Ukraine. We are also the chief organizer of similar supplies from other NATO members. The fact we don't have US soldiers being killed (at least not many, and not officially) doesn't mean that we are not a principle party in the war.

We are not at war in Gaza, since the military action in Gaza is not really a war. Hamas is not a nation.

I didn't realize that Taiwan was shooting at anyone? Please clarify.

Well when you have a flaccid milk toast excuse of a president, one has to do everything they can to not discuss an uncomfortable topic.

I don't disagree that Trump is a threat to national security.

I disagree that Biden is not a threat to national security. Biden's actual performance in office makes him a greater threat to national security than Trump. Deliberate pursuit of misguided neocon policies is worse than venial bumbling.

I can sum up exactly why Trump is a bigger national security threat. In 2020, he allowed cities to be burned to the ground during the Floyd riots. And more importantly, he did NOTHING for hours while our Capitol was under attack. As commander-in-chief, he was hesitant and put lives at risk.

Well.... the OP makes a good case against Trump. The bar is set for you to make a similar one against Biden. "Misguided neocon" sounds kinda bad, but it will simply not rise to the challenge.

Unter Trump we had chaos. We were fighting in afghanistan so there was no 'peace', not to mention Trump didn't have the courage to get us out of Afghanistan, he tied Biden's hands with the Taliban and kicked the can to him.

The US faces extreme danger because of Biden's border policy. Many officials acknowledge that with all the known terrorists crossing the border, some kind of attack is likely.

More people died from Covid under Biden than Trump and Biden had the benefit of a vaccine, which Trump did not except in the last month of his administration.

Biden's exit from Afghanistan was the very definition of chaos.

Strike that reverse it. The only thing really chaotic about the Trump administration was DC's Response to some one who at least acted like he gave a damn about the American people instead rather than using them for this or that science experiment in which the were little more than guinea pigs for this or social science experiment.

That is absolutely not a straw man and you damn well know it.
Do I need to go find a bunch of videos of random elected Democrats telling us he'd start world war 3? Maybe you have a short memory but me and pepperidge farm seems to remember Hillary Clinton saying something about his finger on the nuclear button

Just look, you're virtually repeating the same exact propaganda but only four or five years later

264 known terrorists have crossed the border under Biden. That does not include the 1.7 million gotaways. You can trivualize it if you want, but this is extremely dangerous.
