Trump posts nearly $92 million bond in E. Jean Carroll defamation case

Trump has posted a $91.63 million bond as he appeals the judgment against him in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case. The bond, underwritten by Chubb, is larger than the $83.3 million judgment to comply with court requirements. Trump also faces a deadline to put up $454 million in another case. He argues the judgment is excessive and is facing mounting legal fees from other trials.

What I think will happen will that the Appellate court won't reverse the verdict, but may adjust the amount down some, but not more than half, so in a few days, minus her lawyer fee, which is 1/3, Carroll wind up a multimillionaire, and Trump with a bigger hole in is pocket.

Good for her, she deserves it after all the hell Trump put her through.

But, much worse trouble lies ahead for Trump.

Former President Donald Trump has posted a $91.63 million bond as he appeals the judgment against him in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case. The notice of Trump’s bond and appeal was made with the federal court in New York on Friday.

In January, a federal jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million in damages as a result of Trump’s defamatory statements denying he raped her, saying she wasn’t his type, and accusing her of making up the allegation to boost sales of her book. Carroll will not collect the award during the appeal.

 

So he had to pay $5 million for the original Sexual Assault verdict. But he couldn't keep his mouth shut, and had to put up another $91 million. Sounds like a good strategy. Republican donor's money hard at work!

As I said in another Thread, one second he*** is telling the Judge, "Gimme a stay, I can't get a bond," and in the next the Judge says, "No stay," and in the next, Humpty*** says, "Okay, here ya go, I had this one form my mate Chubb in my back pocket all the time. Just josh'n with y'all when I said I could not get one. Good one, ey?"

Appellate courts are loathe to touch jury verdicts. I don’t think it gets adjusted downward.

I would love to be in Carroll’s lawyers’ position now.

 

His doners money at work! Indeed. He just will not/ cannot LEARN from his mistakes. He deserves everything he gets as consequences. What he put her through is sheer sadistic mental (and pysical ) cruelty ) His pathological cruelty has been and continues to be very destructive.

The issue is that one CANNOT believe a word that comes out of his vocal chords. He loves playing the victim.... and crying poor would be part of that scheme. He is not one's garden variety shyster.

 

He doesn't have that much in liquid assets. He's been lying as usual.He only had to put up a percentage of the bond but whoever paid the bond secured it with a trust deed or some kind of collateral. And I assure you the collateral is worth a lot more than that bond even at fire sale prices.

 

It’s too bad that he doesn’t have a fake charity that he can loot to pay his creditors anymore.

 

When the appeals are exhausted, will Donald pay the judgment with money from his supporters?

I’ve read that a measure preventing RNC funds from being used to pay Trump’s legal fees has been rejected. He’s going to bleed the RNC dry.

 

No wonder Ronna McDaniel, the head of the RNC resigned.
