https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/n...-fighting-doctrine/ar-AAD7NX4?ocid=spartandhp One of my greatest concerns was that trump would start a nuclear war. Now he seems to be paving the way. Once the genie is out of the bottle, all hell will break loose. No doubt your death and the death of your family is something the Pentagon is calling "acceptable losses". I once had great hope for humanity. But the election of trump may be the death rattle. Reversing climate change, food safety, water safety, safe air to breathe, and basic decency are clearly a waste of time for trump. But now he is going down a one-way road. If he starts a nuclear war, there is no reversing that later. I am also expecting that he will declare martial law to overturn a negative 2020 election. I still can't believe this is happening in what used to be a great country.
As of now, enemies and allies all over the world can no longer trust that we won't start a nuclear war. This means that they are far more likely to launch if they feel threatened. If they think we might just take them out, why not launch everything you've got. GREAT JOB TRUMPERS. You may have destroyed the world.
Agree. Was it a 18 months ago that we were poised on the brink of war with North Korea? Trump pushes to the edge and then retreats. He will make a misstep and there will be retaliation for his bullying.
OTOH if Trump DOES call out the tanks when he loses in 2020 he will lose big time and I think the Republican Party will end up being shut out of politics, if not actually outlawed, for a very long time. The worst thing that ever happened to conservatism was Trump's "victory" in 2016
I'm very worried that it may be the worst thing to ever happen to the world. The worst of it is that I've predicted many of his moves. He isn't hard to figure out. So I worry a lot that this is going where I've long suspected it's going. It's no accident that he coddles the most evil strong-men in the world.
This is indeed troubling... But how is this linked to Trump I'm not sure, or on his desire to push the red button. The document was publicly available for a week and now it's only available for related servants(you can still find real copies). Maybe this was a intimidation show. Hopefully..
Keep in mind that there ARE other men around him, and he often has them simply ignoring him, after which he forgets what he ordered According to Bob Woodward's book "Fear" that happens quite often.
“Meanwhile, the US and Russia are engaged in multibillion-dollar nuclear weapon modernisation programmes. As part of the US programme, the Trump administration is developing a low-yield ballistic missile, which arms control advocates have said risks lowering the nuclear threshold, making conceivable that a nuclear war could be “limited”, rather than inevitably lead to a global cataclysm.” A scary development.
The world and society has survived worse than Trump but usually with the help of the United States not at the hands of it....this is indeed new territory and unpredictable. I can only hope it ends well.
The problem with these weapons is not the blast(which is the biggest bang out there) but the fallout. From what I can understand the US want to develop a nuclear weapon with a big boom but little fallout. Even this kinds of tests ruins the environment in which they are carried. This idea predates Trump being elected.
Trump was quoted as saying, re nukes, Why can’t we use them? Surely he can’t be so uninformed about the hazard of fallout?
Trump probably thinks "fallout" is what he does when Melania just can't stand it any more and pushes him out of the Lincoln Bed.
I am not informed but I imagine it's possible?:d If I try hard, I can see it's usefulness against non nuclear countries. 1 bomb per military base/air field, instead of 'wasting' dozens of tomahawks for limited damage.
I had thought we were going to use a tactical nuke as the ultimate "bunker buster" when we were trying to dig Osama out of Tora Bora. It's quite possible that Bush's decision to let Osama escape actually had one good consequence after all.
The way was paved long before Trump. MSN is just giving what their audience is eager to consume, like babies in highchairs waiting for the next spoon full on applesauce. Here comes the pwane! What a stupid article. "If he starts a nuclear war, there is no reversing that later." Duh!
LOL, updating a 14 year old document that is out of date is "nuclear war" for sure. You probably don't realize this is what the military routinely does.
“For the second time this week, President Trump is signaling a not-so-aggressive posture toward Iran’s provocations. A few days ago, Trump called two oil tanker attacks that the U.S. government blames on Iran “very minor.” Then on Thursday, Trump suggested Iran didn’t intentionally shoot down a U.S. drone. The combined picture is one of a president who has talked tough about Iran for decades now looking to justify avoiding armed conflict.” https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...ed-by-hawks/ar-AADb9uS?ocid=spartandhp#page=2
This is the Pentagon, not Trump! I find it scary that the Pentagon is considering a nuclear war. I don't want us to destroy ourselves in a nuclear war. But there's a bit of relief that this might just be a contingency plan and not the first card to play at the diplomacy table.
Ok, 1 this isn't Trump, this is the pentagon, 2) They also make plans, those plans would have a nuclear option attached.
True. The only war Trump is prepared for is a Twitter War ... the guy can't get through two sentences on a brief without falling asleep.
