secondly he praised authoritarian dictatorships as if we should look to them for examples of greatness.

He divided NATO which is proving valuable in the deterrence against Russian and Chinese land grabs.

I hope that SOB never sees the White House again! I’m no liberal and you all know that. But this guy should be no rockstar for republicans.

After listening to this rally I am really questioning who is better at sewing distrust into our democracy. Trump or the authoritarian Russians and Chinese.

 

As intelligence folks have said, there's no need for the Russians or Chinese to infiltrate the electoral system. Far easier to just sow distrust so that no one believes the results, and the system itself falls under attack - by Americans.

Way to go, Comrade Trump.

You can’t blame all that on trump. How long have democrats sung the song that Russians got Trump elected. Russians didn’t give him a single vote. The only thing the intelligence community acknowledges is the disinformation campaign by the Russians. But the democrats played it off too.

This has been ongoing and politicians have bought into it on both sides.

Well I would agree that that the general uptick in hostility means Dems aren't entirely innocent, but it's surely hard to deny that Trump has been been publicly railing at the electoral system louder and more consistently than anyone else since well before the election. Including tonight.

 

Since when do you guys care about government requirements? It's an abridgment of your 2nd Amendment rights.

 

We care about government requirements all the time. We care that people come here legally, criminals are prosecuted, and so on. How about you? Do you still believe in the liberal hypocritical mantra of ‘if it saves just one life?’

 

The typical fear-mongering red meat to the base: Biden is the devil, Dems are the devil, Mexicans are the devil, Europeans are the devil, Chinese are the devil, media are the devil.... I guess the attacks on BLM and gays came later, after I stopped watching a short intro clip.

That's why Trump is so successful with the MAGA crowd. They have in common that they hate the right people, i.e. everyone else who is not white, American, and conservative. Must be easy to live in such a simple black or white, good or bad world.

Oh, and it didn't take long for the "Let's go Brandon" chants to arrive. So predictable.

The people attacking the electoral college are also the democrats. But yes Trump has been much louder and more resonating than the democrats about diminishing our election process.

 

The people "attacking" the electoral college have a good point, namely that it disenfranchises lots of voters, while giving others an outsized voice, based on population density. Those people are in no way trying to undermine confidence in our democracy, neither have they ever claimed that the former presidents elected by minority popular vote were not elected in legitimate elections.

 

As expected, he whined & cried about losing the elections, but he also quoted a known communist in an attempt to demonize immigration.

It doesn’t disenfranchise anyone. The electoral college was never designed to allow the public vote for the president. We vote as a show to show where our support is. The electoral vote is what votes for the president and they don’t even have to vote for who the public wanted them to. You can’t disenfranchise those who never had the ability to begin with.

The democrats also are showing in their voting legislation that they want to take rights away from the states and have more federal control. This would be pretty much the same thing Putin did by giving him all the power over elections. That’s no way to gain trust.

secondly their voice is known in senate and house elections. The president is limited and can’t do much without them. That’s where people really should focus their voting efforts.

Our system works.

 

The Dems need 40 million more votes in the Senate to achieve parity. In the House, in recent elections (I think 2016) the GOP lost the vote 49% to 51% and still retained about a 20 seat majority in the House. You can paint it as you will, Dem voters are disenfranchised, and the recent GOP voting laws and gerrymandering will further disenfranchise them. The reality is, one party has now decided to go fully anti-democracy on all levels, federal, state, local. All that to retain power, no matter what the do to the system.

As to "Our system works": Of course, it works for YOU, because YOUR party benefits from it. If you were the one being on the receiving end, you'd complain too.
