No, the incidence of people age 50 and younger, even an infant, is not rare at all. The only difference is that people that are in nursing homes, elderly living at home, and those people with co-morbidities succumb to this more than the others. That's logical of course. So no, the infectious rates among younger people is high, it's the death rates of younger people that are lower.

I don't know as there will be, but there has never been a cure! And history shows that people still die in large number even after being inoculated and wide spectrum seasonal flu shots..

All that aside, are you prepared for what this country will look like if we all stay hid until September? Somehow I don't think you are looking at this realistically..

 

Trump's Phase I includes opening up theaters and restaurants. Do you agree with that? Who goes to work first, those who need it the most or those who work outside like construction? What if you work for the utility company inside on a computer but your neighbor works for the same utility company but climbs poles. He gets to go back to work and earn a paycheck but you aren't allowed to. Is that fair?

Ya so.. That's the reality of it I agree.. And my point is, mankind dies in many different and tragic ways.. Virus is just sad reality in the evolution on mankind.. The only difference this time is we are so ignorant to face our evolutionary frailty to virus that we have convinces ourselves that we can somehow hide from something that has been killing us from the beginning of our existence..

The original estimates accounted for social distancing. They simply overestimated the lethality of the virus. Whether they did so out of malfeasance or incompetence is the only question that remains.

There is no reason to believe the number of deaths would be anywhere near that. In any case, I'm not the one arguing that there is some magic number of "unacceptable" deaths. You are. Therefore, the onus is on you, not me, to specify what that number is and why.

My State government has declared the State a disaster area and issued a shelter-in-place order. My local government has shut down most of the city except for grocery stores. Millions of Americans are out of work and thousands of businesses are shut down. There is nothing to do and nowhere to go. Your obtuse denial of this reality is truly bizarre.

 

Sometimes, Trump isn't just risibly stupid. Sometimes he is dangerously stupid. This is one of those times.

 

Whichever system we implement, there will be those who feel it is unfair. We need to get things going though and the experts will have to decide the areas of least danger and/or most importance that should be a starting point.
