Seriously, I hope Trump is ok on a personal level. Moreover, because of the position that he is in, its a concern for the entire country. What he is trying to do is over his head. He needs to take what he can get from the Chinese, declare victory and move on. Then if he's out of office after the next election, that is good for him personally, good for the country, and good for the world.

That's a new one. Leftists hoisting the white flag at the first sign of something that might require a little effort.

Seeing as you are my student, it is proper for you to do so.

Like I said folks, he can be trained, it just that it takes him a while.

That is a meaningless statistic. Going from one to two is a hundred percent increase. The important statistic is percent of total. When people use this kind of statistic, my first inclination is that they intend to deceive.

Doesn't seem tariffs have anything to do with this.

That was a meaningless response, because the COMPANY FAILURES did not go from one to two, they went from 310 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR 2018 TO 640 FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF THIS YEAR AND THE YEAR IS NOT OVER. Get it? Furthermore if you want to get all damn technical about it that's a 106.4516129032258 percent increase in company failures from all of 2018 to only the first half of this year. On top of that, that has corresponded to a loss of about 3000 jobs.

Yes, you said 600 companies. Those are often owned by one or two people so it's reasonable to say 600 people.

Truck drivers don't really lose anything when a company goes under.

It doesn't appear that you read with comprehension very well. If you did, there was no need to ask such a stupid question.

Here is a reading test for you

Again. Meaningless statistics. What percent of total? Were they able to go back to work elsewhere?

No. It is a statistic full of meaning. In case you don't understand, there was a 106.4516129032258 percent increase in company failures from all of 2018 to only the first half of this year. That corresponded to a loss of about 3000 jobs. What it means is that Trump's stupid tariffs are having an adverse effect on ordinary Americans.

Not as a percent of a total. 3000 truck drivers is 0.0857142857% of the total truck drivers. That is pretty small by anyone's measure. And then, how many of those just switched jobs?

It is quite significant if your job was one of the 3000 that was lost.

It is quite significant because the number of trucking company failures for the first six months of this year was more than double what it was for the entire year of 2018.

It is quite significant because businesses are cutting back on their orders because of the higher prices due to tariffs, which is resulting in a downward pull on the trucking industry.

It is quite significant because when businesses start cutting back on orders, they will start to cut jobs.

It is quite significant because we have a person in the office of president of the United States who does not know how to properly think things through and who, as a result, does not properly comprehend the consequences of his actions.

It is quite significant because ordinary people are suffering because we have a person in the office of president of the United States who does not know what he is doing.

It is quite significant because now the things that I purchase at wholesale prices that are made in China that I try to sell retail at a profit will now cost more so my I will have to charge my customers, who already struggle to buy things at current prices, more.

Of course you don't give a rat's a$$ about all that because its 'insignificant' TO YOU. But that does not mean that is not significant. That is merely your opinion which is warped by your partisan sentiments.

So far retailers have taken on most of the losses. Hoping that somebody will make Trump come to his senses. But "senses" and "Trump" are antonyms. So, who knows for how long they'll be able to afford this. We could see them to start passing on their loss of revenue to consumers by the time people are doing their Christmas shopping.

Exactly. Sense and Donald Trump simply don't mix. Think about it. If you are in business and you buy something wholesale for $80, a 25% increase because of tariffs will make it cost $100. If you have rent and other overhead you need to mark it up about three times. So the same thing that you sold for $240 will now cost $300. What in the hell will your customers think when confronted by such a sharp price increase? Of course they will pull back. As you have said, Donald Trump simply has no sense whatsoever. Damn, any idiot could think that through.
