What, exactly, did you find informative and useful about what Trump said?

I dunno. The Darwin Awards seem to be pretty apolitical. Just seeing an hearing some of the protesters in Michigan last week should be proof enough (not the fact that they are protesting, rather how they are protesting and what they are saying during interviews)
Back to the point: Trump's third grader vocabulary, his bizarre brain damaged syntax combined with a need to do crowd work like an angry comic makes him completely chaotic duting his press briefs and leads to these non specific, completely unhelpful, and potentially dangerous statements. This is really not what the country needs right now.

Not having already skewed the science on hydroxychloroquine enough with political jargon to make it impossible for to be confident about anything that is reported on the issue anymore, I guess we now have to wait for the same for the miraculous wonders that await using UV light and, even more ominously, disinfectants to kill the virus!

Trump's insecure attempts to show he is smart and is someone who has insights that would have made him a great scientists or doctor too (if only he had been inclined to follow those careers) is not the worse of it. The worse part is the fact that his cult likes to make everyone of his utterances part of the new gospel that needs to be spread! Worse yet, the hacks and the quacks, to prove this new gospel, take his utterances sometimes even further than Trump might have intended.

In this context, it really doesn't matter what Trump was trying to do when he touted hydroxychloroquine, or that he never suggested using 'fish tank' cleaner for treatment, what matters is that inevitably there be those who will want to prove Trump right and who will begin taking this to places that even Trump many not have said explicitly. Thus, while I recognize that with respect to 'disinfectants' killing the virus, Trump mumbled something like "doctors would probably have to do this", next when know there will be cult members joining hands with some quacks to promote this nonsense. The cult members to shield Trump from any possible criticism. The quacks to make a buck from it all.

I can't edit my post to correct it, but you are right. When I type a message (particularly a long one) quickly, the typing follows the phonetic sound of the term in my mind -- and I often end up making these kind of mistakes (e.g., "there" instead of "their" or vice versa).

Kind of sad to focus on a tiny error rather than on the point the poster was making. Imagine this site if we had to point out every time some wrote 'of' instead of 'have' (I should of).
I will add that in your grammar police 'comment' the comma you used is incorrect.
If you have any insight on what the poster wrote, I would love to hear it.

You do know that sol means sun right? No need to go to your proctologist to get sunshine up your but. Want to bet on how long until that treatment becomes a fad?

I have asked the moderators to rescind your grammar police privileges until you take a remedial comma use class. :)
In all seriousness, Trump's complete mangling of the English language and his brain damaged syntax does really lead to chaos. This is not the time to try to guess at what Trump is saying (Kellyane Conway has urged us to listen to Trump's heart, not his words), this is really a time for clarity.
Trump is completely incapable of clarity and that is actively hurting this country.
Stop with the dog and pony show.

If anyone wants to know why Trump supporters are so readily compared to cult members, this thread is a great place to start.

The President of the USA & supposed leader of the free world, a man with zero medical knowledge or training, stands before the nation talking about injecting UV rays and ingesting the sort of disinfectants that kill things outside the body. This might be some sort of absurdist comedy if the context wasn't more dead Americans in a month than the Korean War killed in 3 years. What is the response of his supporters? Make excuses and, worst of all, somehow try to pretend this is actually OK. it is like some sort of mass mental illness.

The Kim family in Nth Korea has spent 70 years terrifying & brainwashing their people to achieve the sort of slavish devotion that Trump has managed in less that 4 years. And these people style themselves 'defenders of freedom'. So glad the Pacific Ocean exists.

Trump and Trumpers claim that the MSM was never as bad to Obama as they are to Trump. It's because he didn't say incredibly stupid things like this and then double down by being rude to journalists calling them fake for pointing out the errors that endanger people.

    Conversation overheard in Georgia
    "What's that smell?"
    "Uh, I don't smell anything..."
    "Outdoorsy, fresh, clean."
    "Nope, no idea..."
"Did you give yourself a Pine sol enema?"
"Yeah, but Trump said we need to use disinfectants inside to kill Coronavirus and I'm not stupid enough to drink it, duh."

Donald is neither a doctor nor a scientist.
He's a mental and intellectual toddler in an adult body, with too much power.
Don't take too seriously what he says. Fight him as you can. Hopefully, the Trump spook will soon be over.

    Still.

There is a Hard-Core of about 1/3 of America who actually take Trump seriously.

And, they see a crazy idea like this and then there is a run on Clorox b/c they think that Dr. Bone Spurs has found the miracle cure.

    Scary.:smh:

Asthma is not caused by a pathogen! The depths people go to to defend Trump no matter what stupid things he says is embarrassing. Let's make this simple. The virus replicates within human cells. That should be enough to explain why introducing a substance such as a disinfectant directly into the body is a really bad idea

´ ~ You are the one taking all of this nonsense seriously. Most of us just shrug and smile with amusement - just like we do with AOC , Pressley, Omar , Nancy P the "Ice Cream Lady" , Tlaib and ol'Joe Biden .

When did this change from a briefing to a brainstorming session? Brainstorming should be done behind the scenes, then when you've got something useful to announce - you announce it.
There was a story - last week I think - that Trump asked his medical team something to the effect of "what happens if we do nothing? no stay-at-home, no social distancing?". Some people criticised him for asking such a stupid question. I didn't. I say he was right to ask that kind of a question.
And I don't really even criticize him for asking about injecting disinfectant or UV (although I don't know how you can "inject" UV) in the context of brainstorming. But the place for that was behind closed doors, not in a press briefing. Millions of people love Trump and hang on his every word. Some might take what he says and act on it.
But it does also reveal a certain level of ignorance on his part and it is scary that (1) such an ignorant and low-intelligence person could get elected president and (2) that so many millions of Americans can't see quite how stupid he is. Although perhaps they are below him in terms of intelligence - who knows?

Lol. We have Trumpers here saying that Trump's ideas are not stupid and then go on to try to justify them. "WE" know that Trump is an idiot. But are you now defending Trump saying nonsense to the world about a disease that is killing 2000 people a day in the US while you just shrug and smile with amusement? Trump is an embarrassment for the US.

~ Trump may indeed be an idiot to some - but he is a far better president than the four who proceeded him combined. He alone makes more sense than today's entire Democratic party. That is a sad commentary on U.S. government.
