Div Cmdr probably. I remember the Marines being locked and loaded at all times and we were pissed.

Was this on a mission? Seems like it goes against the army ethos

Not much out there on the internet so we can only go from old sea stories.

    Just found this.

    Some responses:
      1. Terry in Oregon says:

I can remember one time as I was given Staff Duty at the barracks and was given a beretta M9 with 3 fully loaded mags. This was state side in 2010, also in the Marine Corps but YMMV.

      2. Jim says:

Five rounds? I never was issued a weapon with more than three except in a war zone. This was back in ’69-70.

      3. davidx says:

When I was a young airman in the USAF Air Police (changed shortly thereafter to Security Police, and now I guess it’s “Security Forces”) I had guard duty at a fighter-interceptor alert hangar in Bangor, Maine and also a few miles down the road there at a nuclear weapons storage site. We were issued M-16s with one fully loaded 20-round magazine, and S&W .38 Special revolvers loaded with six rounds and that was it.

I doubted at the time that we’d see Charlie or his Murkan equivalents humping through those north woods in the dead of a Maine winter, with the winds howling off the north Atlantic, and then scaling a ten-foot chain-link fence topped with triple-standard concertina wire, and heading toward the underground storage bunkers sheathed in concrete with alarmed heavy steel doors. With a half-dozen of us in there with our rifles and revolvers. Big white bunny boots outside, with long underwear, regular fatigues, insulated flight pants, Eskimo mittens, etc., and I still got permanent frostbite in my fingers, toes and ears.

Six months in that mofo and then off to ‘Nam when they deactivated the site and turned it over to Maine Air National Guard. From chill factor of 60 below zero to 110 in the shade with 100% humidity.

Graduated to the Pig and belts of .30 ammo, plus M79. Big tall guys cancarry more chit, ya know.

      4. Robert says:

While doing armed Quarter Deck watch in the CG I was issued an M9 and 2 spare mags, all full. I was actually allowed to carry the firearm before I was allowed to carry the pepper spray. I checked with my BM2 about that and he said that if I felt threatened I should use the tool I had available.Whole lot of more responses -> http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/20...ve-rounds-standard-issue-for-u-s-army-guards/

I'm assuming there was an underlying reason. You can't place the mission first with an empty magazine.

I agree, we were not happy about it. I'm pretty sure that was not all units, but there were some.

Yes they are. Conspiracy to commit fraud in all 50 states and federal laws too. To stay here illegally, they must commit fraud, and conspire to do so. A felony.

That is not true. 9 UNELECTED judges can legislate from the bench, a fatal flaw of the constitution. It changes when they say it does, and they ignore (except for Gorchec and Thomas) what the wording is. Change by fiat, not by wording every day.

The Constitution never gave Federal Courts this authority. Instead, long ago, the Supreme Court declared it would not follow the Constitution, but instead would follow British common law (that the USA has fought and won independence from) declaring they are the highest power in the county with everyone and everything, including Congress, the President and all election officials to be their subordinates and inferior essentially as the employees of the Federal Courts. They literally overthrew the Constitution government without a shot fired because the powers that be wanted the specific ruling they were making on the case.

The author if the Constitution, Thomas Jefferson, rages against the ruling as absolutely unconstitutional.

With that, they declared that since they created a power for themselves upon British law, that forever after they are the self-declared ruling demigod oligarchs of the USA.

By definition, the power of Federal courts over other branches of government is not a constitutional power, but tyrannical power. "Tyrannical power" means someone granting power to him/herself that was not given by Constitution or law.

Yes Jake, that is the truth. Most people are too ignorant about the laws that run their lives, and how those laws came to be in direct opposition to the constitution.
That is why I like originalist like Thomas and now Gorchec. The constitution says what it says, and there is an amendment process if it needs to be changed. The most abuse amendment is the 13th against slavery and INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE. Isn't a draft which I was forced to serve involuntary servitude? Forced to make a cake for someone who you don't want to or agree with involuntary servitude, paid or not paid.

Yes, just like my house had a 5.2% interest rate. You cannot just change it to 15% because that is the going rate that has changed since I got my mortgage. That is in effect what they are doing with the constitution. There is a method to change the constitution, not change it's meaning without changing the wording.

Not the military, only the National Guard.

Which is why he is using the National Guard.

No, it is not. And the Supreme Court has stated so many times.

That was because of a conscious decision made by President Johnson. As part of his desire to increase military numbers he greatly expanded the draft. And his SecArmy and SecDef made the decision to not involve the NG to help justify it, stating that they were needed at homes.

There were NG units involved in Vietnam, but relatively few. And it is the exception of such in their history, not the rule. In most previous wars and wars afterwards the NG made up a large percentage of those who fought. You can not take the one exception and try and make it sound like it is the rule.

The supreme court determined it to be voluntary? That's hilarious, and par for the course.

Stay on target. You can not hold credibility if you respond to a statement with something completely different.

The Yankees are the best sports team ever!
    What about the Lakers?

The constitution says this: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

The supreme court says the opposite. I find that hilarious, and par for the course.
