Isn't it interesting that, at this time when the general public distrusts the federal government more than ever before, the progressives are making a push for giving them more and more power? They want to take over the health care industry and meddle in everything and anything these days. Obama and his merry band of liars and gated community liberals are doomed. http://www.wafb.com/story/15574403/poll-trust-in-government-at-an-all-time-low
"You should note that the poll was taken during a rough time on Capitol Hill. It was conducted this past Friday through Sunday during the congressional standoff between Democrats and Republicans over disaster relief funding, which threatened to shut down the government." A thousand or so people polled over the phone, during a congressional standoff. Surely you can come up with something better than that.
How many people knew that the standoff was going on, I bet the majority of the population of the US had no idea.
I don't know. Shall we run a useless poll of 1000 people to find out? 1000 out of 307,006,550 people: that should give us a good result, don't you think?
My point was crystal clear in my first post: the poll can not be trusted. I have no opinion one way or the other. My point is purely to do with the poll: it can not be relied on, because of the two reasons I mentioned.
I think you should take greater note of that increase in conservatives in congress and the apparent inability of congress to work together to get anything done. It's the gridlock and the partisan posturing that is making people distrust congress. The simple reality that congress would rather whine and moan about their personal political points of view instead of doing some of the things the public have been screaming about for ages. One of the biggest is outsourcing of jobs. From Reagan through Obama we have been told these trade agreements will benefit Americans, but all that the common man has seen are factories closed, friends out of work and Wal Marts springing up all over the place selling the cheap chinese made crap that our neighbors used to make for a living. It's no one party that is totally culpable for this poor state of affairs, both Dems and Repubs have allowed this to happen. This is where Obama made some huge mistakes, Health Care has been a problem, but America would have followed him to hades had he simply attacked Jobs, and trade deficits as a starting point and made some progress there first. But he had to have his legacy, and in the end due to how watered down it is that may not even last.
When Obama is defeated and Reid no longer protects progressive social spending in the Senate, you'll see the poll numbers rise. _
In Fed We Trust I'm a believer! We need more regulations and Gov programs in order to solve our economic problems. If we could employ a few million more in Government positions, then we wouldn't have an unemployment problem. If our Gov could spend another trillion or better on STIMULUS, then we'd have prosperity. If Obama could employ a few more high level campaign fund raisers and donors at DOE, then maybe we could plow more billions (or even Trillions!) into GREEN energy companies. Then maybe these "companies" (excuse the term) could survive long enough to actually produce a useful product. Then we'd be ENERGY INDEPENDENT and wouldn't need any military. Then there would global PEACE and and UNITY. Yep - In Fed We Trust. Government is my friend.
Don't include me in that. I love gridlock. Since I consider the US Congress as the #1 roadblock to prosperity, gridlock keeps them from doing things. I wish we could give the Congress a couple of years vacation while the rest of us clean up the mess they've made.
