I donate a a few bucks to this websight every so often

only because I am allowed to participate and give feedback to other members

I decide what to pay..there is no subscription fee here
I honestly respect and admire the administration for keeping this Websight running

I would never pay to listen or read a blowhards views and opinions on the current events...

I understand paying for a Entertaiment subscription because most have a choice of what can be consumed,,but would anybody pay a teleivision service to watch one channel??

celebrities are becoming multi millionaires doing subscription podcasts

I must ask,

why does a celebrities opinion warrant a person to pay to listen to it??

Rogan is free but he is knockin down a $100 million a year talkin $hit on a podcast

and tucker carlson...how many will fork over $9 bucks a month to listen to his opinions??

the trend of the podcast can be credited to the earphones..

without the earphone, 99% of the podcasts would fail

Jordan Peterson is another example of a guy getting rich spewing his views on the main stream media

the ironic part is these guys whine and cry about the very thing that are making them millionaires

A subscription that I'm paying was originally to listen to a celebrity. Actually four celebrities: The Beatles. Loved The Beatles channel on Sirius. Then I discovered other channels I really liked. None of them political, though. I usually disconnect from politics when I'm driving. Except if there is something particularly important going on.

I am also baffled that people would pay to listen to some of the clowns you mention. Particularly Tucker, who is an court adjudicated liar. But, then again, I'm baffled that there are people in the world who LISTEN to clowns like those. I mean, I believe Rudy Giuliani still has a podcast somewhere. I can't imagine who listens.

 

The wife is subscribe to several podcasts, we haven't paid a dime for any of them. You tube doesn't work the way gringo thinks it does apparently.

In answer to you other question, it depends on a) what they are famous for and b) what they are opining about.

 

There is no shortage of fools eager to be parted from their money.

Someone has to pay for commentators and think-tanks. Some view it as entertainment. Others view it as worth it for a political cause.

I personally do not pay any money to listen to anyone, but I think I would consider it if I really liked what they had to say.

Some of these people can bring news, thoughts and perspectives that people might not otherwise hear.

 

Who will pay? Any and all suckers, that's who.

 

I'm honestly not a fan of subscription anything. I see it happening more and more, even with basic video editing software and stuff like this. I bought this software called Movavi video editor and then a year later i got a bill for a subscription auto renewal when I thought I had just bought it as a one and done. I won't ever pay for subscriptions willingly but if I liked a commentator enough and there was just a ONE TIME FEE that was reasonable, sure I'd pay for it. The left is to blame for pushing these business models as they despise people OWNING things.

 

Most of the subscriptions can be done on a yearly basis for a significantly lower fee. I've got news service that I pay once a year at a rate of 3 bucks a month total 36 once a year substantially less than what I used to pay for the local paper years ago. Further, if people are going to provide me a service on a continuing basis I expect to pay for it.

 

This is what happens when listeners become this myopic. They only want to hear their own talking points and anything outside their programming is (You can insert name here)
All you have to do is provide any of the listed names and they immediately go apoplectic.

Because programming has convinced them, they are the only ones who can be right on anything political.
Even when their flagship (used to be) CNN ratings tanked to numbers under the Cartoon Channel and Nickelodeon
for all of their fakes news provisions.

Perfect example, they loved Bill Maher when he was attacking Trump but hate him when he talks about Israel or
anything anti Democrat.

Its fun to watch though.

nobody has admitted paying a fee to listen to podcasts or broadcasts..but somebody is paying...

reminds me of the joke about the porn industry...it is a billion dollar business but nobody admits to paying for it

Limbaugh died off before the podcast craze...there was a time I listened to him....before he got strung out on Percodan and was arrested on drug charges, he was not crazy and made sense some of the time...had Bill Clinton not gotten a hummer I am not sure he would have ever gotten the traction he did ..Clinton was an easy target and Limbaugh certainly took his shots..

after being released from rehab, Limbaugh was never the same..his insanity blossomed to a new level...then for the next 20 years he was just a wacky dope head spewing bile and lies,,,and sadly , many believed him and never took into consideration they were listening to a wacked out dope head

of the entire list above Dennis Prager is the only one that sometimes makes sense...but he too, will sensationalize issues to get attention and viewers..

most of the others of the list are political hacks just spewing bile and lies to grift the general public out of $10 bucks a month

and bill maher is the same...he has a subscription channel and also is hawking soap and adult entertainment items such as CBD products..he is selling T shirts with a slogan thinking they are funny more than once...maher is a multi millionaire many times over...kinda shows being a millionaire does not also buy class

I tried to listen to triggernometry a few times...but even the opening credits he starts with a lie...Konstantin Kisin had a speech go viral awhile back and has built his career around it...oh yes..the LIE is he says "we took big chance creating this podcast" the only thing he could be risking is his time and a few thousand bucks to buy a microphone..this is why podcasts are to numerous...they cost practically nothing to produce

Sam Harris is a great listen when he is a guest on someone else's podcast...on his own he is just boring and puts me to sleep

I listen to scott galloways and kara swisher shows...I enjoy the car talk shows...even the car talk guys want people to pay
NPR has a couple good shows wait wait dont tell me is funny..ted talks are good for a short listen..Lex Friedman sometimes gets a good guest... once in a while if he has a good guest I will listen to Rogan..but who has the time to listen to his 3 hours long diatribe ??
and Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan are 2 comedians I sometime enjoy while driving or walking

I also enjoy rich eisen and the kelce brothers podcasts for sports

 

It is best to have a well diversified portfolio on who you listen to, or what you read. Get a very broad perspective from different points of view, and then make up your own mind.

But those that listen to anyone of those you listed will only listen to those you listed and "not the other side" on the same set of facts. And yes, it is myopic if you are only listening to RW Media on the internet or only the left wing media on the internet. Try reading those who know or those who have been there first who don't have a political axe to grind, nonprofit websites that specialize in specific areas, or read books that don't have the chick bait titles in them or are politically influenced or dominated for their content. Discernment is the key, and yes, most people don't thave them, including most of the conservatives on this forun unfortunately.
