I am pro 2nd Amendment, but I agree with you. And I believe we should pass laws that you cannot attend any organized or unorganized protest armed. If you do, felony with minimum 5-years in prison. That isn't gun control. That is common sense safety just like guns are not allowed at schools and many other venues. If you feel you cannot attend a protest without a gun, knife, or other weapons, then don't attend the protest.

I did say attend the protest. If you are not in attendance, but somehow find yourself in the middle of it and fear for your life...it becomes a very different story. During many of the 2020 protests, a family was traveling across a bridge near us and got stopped by protesters. Their windows were shattered and they had a child in a car seat. They were fortunate that police were steps away and they took action immediately. If police are not there, you have a right to defend yourself and your family in that situation.

Yeah it kinda like begging for trouble in every way possible. So many people are no longer reasonable with their thinking...

Common sense has certainly left the building. I live in a heavily populated area and people drive about 100 times worse today than they did pre-pandemic. The roads are scary. We listened on a scanner yesterday to at least 5 major, very serious accidents in our immediate vicinity over just a couple of hours around mid-day. And that is just one example on the insanity.

He was rioting and using a firearm to intimidate innocent civilians for political reasons.

Someone willing to go to prison for life doesn't care about going to prison for 5 years, especially since he will probably only do 2 years, maybe.

If Governor Abbott does not pardon this man, the Governor will have ZERO credibility.

After they surrounded his car and beat on it and someone pointed a gun at him. I'd get out of there as well.

He apparently may have driven there looking for some beef, and I don't mean Franklin's.

All I saw was his car make a legal right turn into an illegal protest in the street. The crowd rushed his car from all directions and the shooting occurred.

This is like the old western movies on tv.
2 guys with a gun, one doesn't like the other, bang.

That's where this is all going.

It is patently stupid to walk around in public with an AK 47. But I am aware that is legal in some shitty states like Texas.

If you are walking around with a gun like that, you are assuming the risk that you are going to put someone in reasonable concern for their safety, to the point that they are justified acting in self-defense. I suppose it would depend on the circumstances. In this case, the defendant was surrounded by a mob of protesters who were illegally blocking the street. And one of them was armed with a weapon. We don't know what if any threatening gestures the deceased made. That all comes down to he said she said. But in those circumstances I think it was reasonable for the defendant to be concerned for his safety.

Texas is actually pretty awesome. It seems though that there may have been witnesses, so the he said she said stuff seems most likely inapplicable.

Besides the accusations you make up, what evidence do you have that he is a terrorist?

Sorry, I missed the part where he says, "I'm a terrorist." Or is everyone who disagrees with you a terrorist?

Even if this was appealed to the Supreme Court, the Court would refuse to look at it.
You would have lost the case instantly for Perry. "basically threatening your life" - you just admitted that his life wasn't threatened.
No.. He was full time military was claimed he was an Uber driver 70 miles out of his way with no client to pick up or being driven. The jury determined that that was a lie and that he was there to instigate a fight and kill someone as he stated in his media posts.

Those eye witnesses were all fellow protesters. And I’d really like to see those social media posts.

Yeah, but why didn't the defense use any of this evidence. Blaming the proctor for this doesn’t seem right. If this evidence was truly exculpatory the defense would have used it. The prosecution is required to show the defense what it has, but they don't have to do the defense’ job for them.

Something isn't right here on this one.
