The Mediterranean nations are classed as southern European. France, Belgium, UK, Holland even Germany are western European. Spain, Portugal,Italy, Greece etc are med aka southern European. The former aka UK Germany Belgium have a pitiful cuisine and in fact so does Spain, Portugal and Greece. Only Italy can compare to Asian cuisine but even that is sub standard in comparison. It is relative, like what countries make up the ME. Western Europe can be defined as the opposite of Eastern Europe. Spain is the most western nation along with Portugal on the continent.

Get real, international cuisine in 2024 is Big Mac, fries and a shake. America is an embarrassment. Nothing but fat people all the way down. You don't get that way eating traditional cultural dishes. You get that way by eating lots of fat and lots of sugar.

Regarding which cuisine is best for you with regards to health, I would guess Japan and Hong Kong as they have the longest life expectancy. Regarding which cuisine tastes the best, that is purely subjective. I suspect American fat and sugar cuisine will eventually rule the world and everybody will be fat like they are in America. We are evolved to like the food with the most calories the best. That worked well when we had famines. It doesn't appear to be working as well when we have more than enough food for everybody every day of the year.

Well my mom always made liver and onions and it was like eating death to me but my Dad loved them. I can't stand lobster, eggplant or kidney beans. I used to hate mushrooms and now I love them. Whenever I go to a nice restaurant, everybody orders different foods. There doesn't seem to be any objective standard of what is good food. Everybody's standard appears to be different than everybody elses.

When I worked on the farm, for lunch my aunt would cook roast beef, mashed potatoes/gravy and corn on the cob. I ate that simple meal many many times and it still remains some of if not the best food I ever ate. Nothing beats old country cooking in my book.

Surely we can agree that cheeseburgers (American staple) are in no way comparable in flavour and delight to a chicken madras (Indian staple)?!?!

Cheeseburgers are ultra processed and if ppl understand that then the taste will no longer appeal to them, because it's literally killing them.
