WASHINGTON — A classified war simulation held this month to assess the repercussions of an Israeli attack on Iran forecasts that the strike would lead to a wider regional war, which could draw in the United States and leave hundreds of Americans dead, according to American officials.

Lets see our military leaders are saying its bad, both Israel and American intelegence says Iran is not making a bomb. But folks ignore common sense and go for military conquest. Whats worse its not even for America it for another country.....Not in defense but conquest.

A regional war would cost hundreds of billions of dollars the USA doesn't really have and it would cost hundreds of American lives. What it would do is crush Iran enough that they will be removed as a threat to our oil supply (uh, I mean to Israel and to American citizens) for years to come. It might also make the Gulf States and the Saudis a little more willing to take our directions, as well.

The invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan have failed. Why should invading Iran improve any oil prospects ?

If Iranian strategists today are even half as good as those who fought the war with Iraq they will attack and destroy Saudi pipelines within hours of any attack against Iran. Attacking Iran is the greatest threat to oil supplies imaginable.

Tell that to Saddam and Osama. Both invasions accomplished their objectives...

Yeah, dragging the Sunni Arabs into a war with Iran would be a smart move...

In my opinion, our exportation of democracy product should include States' rights.

No one is going to invade/occupy Iran, its nuclear facilities will be bombed and that's it. It worked with Iraq (Osirak) and the Syrian reactor a couple of years ago, it will of course be more difficult with Iran but again there won't be an invasion.

Iranian stategists will know full well that any attack on Saudi or anyone else will lead to their entire military (not just nuclear weapons facilities) being obliterated in a Tehran minute.

Absurd. The bombing of the Iraqi civil nuclear facility has led to the deaths and displacement of millions of people, including five thousand Americans and 76 thousand permanently disabled. Do you pay to receive this garbage or do they send it for free ?
In addition, there never was a Syrian reactor. It was a MOSSAD contrivance.

Don't let your tongue hang out so far. The Saudi pipelines would be attacked by Yemenis.

How so? Did you actually mean "prevented the deaths and displacement..."?

You were misinformed: The head of the UN atomic watchdog, Yukiya Amano, on Thursday said for the first time that Syria tried in the past to secretly build a nuclear reactor, which was destroyed by Israeli warplanes five years ago, The Associated Press reported.

LOL, the Yemenis? See what you've done, the Americans and Zionists are now shaking in their boots :) You are a funny dude, moon. Do keep us entertained.

Remind me again of the objectives of Iraq & Afghanistan.
Wasn't it WMD and removal of the Taliban?

Sadly those were the lies we were fed. I suspect now it was to position ourselves and our allies to gain a stronger foothold against Iran and friends.

You have more faith in the intentional forward-planning and strategic long term thinking of our power blocks than I do then. Not that there aren't people profiting from these scenarios. I just don't think the benefits are being held at a nation-state level. Nations are vessels to be used for their organisational and population capacity.

I agree we aren't seeing any direct benefits from our policies in the Middle East. But the region is rich in natural resources and also contain two very important trade routes. Granted we don't get much oil at all from that part of the world, but maintaining stability there is important not just for us, but for our allies across the globe.

I also believe our increased presence in the region is another means to keep the Russians down and limit their influence as much as possible. When Bush wanted to install the missile shield in Poland a few years ago, it was obvious that it was really directed at Russia, not Iran. Can you imagine what would have happened if we decided to put up missile silos so close to the Russians during the Cold War? They still have a nuclear arsenal bigger than our own and still maintain a fairly formidable military. The fact that their economy has turned to crap is the only reason why they can't project their power as much as they used too. And since the Soviet Union collapsed we have largely pushed deeper across the world over the last two decades.

I don't view our interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq as having been motivated by economic reasons. Maintaining stable economies in the world does benefit us, but we certainly aren't paying for cheaper oil, nor are our allies. I view our activities around the world as a giant chess game. We are positioning our pieces to try and corner our rivals as they are also trying to do to us. The fact that our economy is so enormous (and among other factors) that allows us to sustain overseas wars is really the reason why we have been so active everywhere. I think we are really just practicing a classic strategy of defending outward. The Romans did this as an empire. We are doing it now too, but just on a much grander scale.

Ha-ha... Psst, I have immensely secretive information you may want to know about:

The relevance here? Well, this affords the superpower an distinct advantage over its so-called adversaries. One major misconception is that U.S. foreign policy is shaped by the interests of us all, which is ridiculously absurd. Another is that it is Iran escalating the tension militarily, which is also false. Yet another is that Iran has these deep secrets about their nuclear program. There are no secrets in Iran, none.

Why indeed. Is it possible that oil is not the reason for the invasion.

Lovely, no truly. This is like linking the interests of the pig to the profits or cost-effective measures realized from being fed manure or its own excrement.

Which is all the more reason why the USA should lead the attack against Iran and not let Israel go it alone. Indeed, if Iran is allowed to acquire nukes with impunity, it will be the end of the world as we once knew it, and for those that are pointing to astronomically sky high oil prices as a reason to avoid war, if we don't act to stop Iran, world oil prices will also inevitably rise astronomically sky high in any event, only it will be on a permanent basis instead of only temporary. As not only will the Saudi owned Pakistani nuclear weapons arsenal in Pakistan virtually over night be proliferated throughout the Sunni Islamic world in response to a nuclear armed Shi'a Iran, but a nuclear armed Iran will also exponentially become far more belligerent and aggressive, causing world oil prices to exponentially rise simultaneously at the same time. Not to mention that the Islamic world, with its imperative to make Islam supreme throughout the entire world, will also become armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons as well and become a much more emanate threat.

Moreover, I wouldn't expect a war simulation to have any other outcome, when you consider the fact that the Obama Pentagon has been stacked with nothing but self-hating delusional leftists that don't have the first clue about the ideology of Islam or how to protect and defend American from it. Not to mention that the war simulation was obviously intentionally leaked to the New York Slimes no less because Obama is trying to scare the American people.

That's not quite right. The invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq didn't fail. What failed instead were the subsequent fantasy based nation-building missions that were premised on false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam. Hence, since they were based on false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam it was inevitable that they would fail. They were also about as counterproductive and insane as lifting up Hitler and the Nazis after WWII, since all Muslims are the eternal mortal enemy of all non-Muslim unbelievers in the world.

However, with respect to Iran, no one is talking about pursuing another silly fantasy based nation-building mission. Instead, they are talking about eradicating the ruling Mullah regime, destroying the nuclear weapons program, and then leaving ASAP. Indeed, had we did that in Afghanistan and Iraq, we and the world today would all be far better off, especially if we would have also outlawed Islam and banned and reversed mass Muslim immigration with all of its excess baggage at the same time.

Yeah right. Give me a break. The Saudis are more than capable of defending their oil installations. In any event, it doesn't matter, if Iran acquires nukes with impunity, oil prices will inevitably skyrocket because a nuclear armed Iran will become exponentially far more belligerent and aggressive. Not to mention that the Saudi owned nuclear weapons arsenal in Pakistan will be proliferated virtually overnight to the Sunni Islamic world in response to a nuclear armed Shi'a Iran. Thus, the Islamic world with its imperative to make Islam supreme throughout the world, will almost immediately become armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons and at the same time become an exponentially far greater threat at the same time.

I know you are obsessed with hating Jews and destroying Israel, but apparently you are so obsessed that you don't even care about your own interests, and that right there is pretty fricking obsessed dude. Indeed, we don't call you guys self-hating for nothing.

The last thing the USA should be doing is attempting to export democracy to the Islamic world. Especially since Islam is not a religion but instead a supremacy theo-political totalitarian ideology and the state.

Failed at what? If the goal was to remove the existing rulers, they succeeded.

Yes, and Turkey is a perfect example of that, since it is 98% Islamic.

    Oh...wait a minute...

Ever heard of Sunnis and Shiites? You do realize that there are many different ethnics groups and different schools of thought in regards to Islam throughout the Middle East? Many of which do not share the same perspectives of the world. Has it ever occurred to you that like many other religions, they are divided and at conflict with each other with their interpretations? I think you are very delusional if you believe all Muslims have some secret pact in which they want to dominate the world together.
