What struck me is that the link also mentioned covid cases rising, other sources harp on about climate change and so I wonder if we’re just back to the scares again, but this time involving the weather. I know it didn’t reach 38 yesterday because having lived in the sub-tropics I know that when it gets that hot, your skin starts to immediately tingle if you go out into the sun and yesterday it didn’t. Will Krispy’s head melt by tomorrow? WOW, that was close, but I survived. Stripping down to my skids I lay on the bed and holding a piece of cardboard madly waved my arm about to create a breeze that saved me from certain death. Still, it is summer and if it had snowed I’d have been really worried. Windmills, that’s what we need, lots of ‘em and plenty of as yet undisclosed alternatives to fossil fuels too. I look forward with interest in the next few days as we’re bombarded with media statistics of tens of thousands dying of heat exhaustion. Perhaps some budding entrepreneur amongst us could develop a vaccine to prevent death by two day summer heatwaves? Alternatively, we could make electric from coal fired and nuclear power stations and pretend it’s ‘clean’ energy? We could get the coal from China and blame them for the pollution. Anyway, it’s either that or freeze to death, but at least we’ll die of cold and not global warming. Yes, the more global warming the hotter it gets. The hotter it gets the less fossil fuels we’ll need to keep us warm. That’s the way to get to zero carbon emissions. We’ll still need the windmills though to keep us cool.
Um, no. Please explain how a gradual temperature increase of 0.5 degrees causes a transient 20 or 30 degree increase that only lasts 2 or 3 days.
I watched Sky coverage on Tuesday and the level of doom being presented was epic! I fully expected to see images of people simply combusting on the street. 35 degrees (to say nothing of 40) without A/C isn’t fun for anyone and or those that are home bound it can be quite dangerous. However, a simple electric fan by an open window can be great relief. Last I was in Britain, however, I didn’t see all that many fans and people tended to close up their houses instead of opening them to a breeze.
Ah, now you see, that’s the magic behind it. The temperature doom predictions only last for two or three days, then it rains and gets cooler and we move on to death by flu. I haven’t decided which one I prefer yet.
The latest heatwave was a fluke, we don’t often see those kind of temperatures and so when we do the climate extinction lot go wild. Then when it rains it shuts them up.

I'm still hopping around from my last disagreement with a motorcycle. When I laid it down on the grass at 50 mph I think I may have broken a bone in my foot and I'm still hopping around but I was able to stuff it into a boot and lace it up and go to work. I bet that damn covid broke the bone!

Climate is not quantifiable, thus climate cannot "change" in any way. Is there now "more climate" than there used to be? What 'changes' is the elements of weather, such as temperature and wind speed. The weather (more specifically the elements of weather) changes all of the time, and any such change can be described as (or blamed on) "climate change", whatever THAT means.
