This link about Scottish DNA intrigues me, because I recall someone from a certain island in Greece asking if I ever heard the saying that 'you will never reach Scotland'. Well it turns out according to legend that the people of a certain town were being sent by the Romans to populate Scotland, and because the weather was bad, they kept returning.

There are many similarities between the Scotch and the Greeks, for instance the skirts the men wear, the bagpipes, the sword dancing, the dance where they cross their arms to link up with the one next to them, and even the 'haggies' which is made of the same ingredients as the Greek kokoretsi. Because of the similarities, many Greeks believe the Scotch are descendant partially from the Greeks. This would account for much of the different DNA that was found in the Scotch, since the Mediterranean DNA could have come from the Greeks.
