New York's Cuomo to volunteer first responders: Pay up

NEW YORK — Health care workers that came to New York to help fight the coronavirus pandemic at its epicenter will have to pay state taxes, according to the governor.

He addressed the issues Tuesday at a news conference.

"We're not in a position to provide any subsidies right now because we have a $13 billion deficit," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. "So there's a lot of good things I'd like to do, and if we get federal funding, we can do, but it would be irresponsible for me to sit here looking at a $13 billion deficit and say I'm gonna spend more money, when I can't even pay the essential services."

Even though the state government asked thousands of people to come to New York from out of state to help fight coronavirus, they will have to pay New York state taxes, even on income they might make from their home states that they're paid while in New York.

Go ahead dems, defend this one, like you have defended Cuomo forcing COVID-19 infected patients into nursing homes.

 

What's next, forcing the military engineers who built hospitals and the sailors on the USNS comfort, to pay New York state taxes?

 

The short answer is 'yes'. Cuomo is a real POS but that's just typical Democrat modus operandi. Tax tax tax until you can't tax anymore.

 

He's trying to use the lame tactic that he's just forced to do this unless the federal government steps in to bail out his state. Yeah, the same state he screwed up with his ignorant, stupid policies, which resulted in so many deaths during the virus.

Because of his bad policy choices, NY state was already in a $6 billion deficit before the year 2020 even started.

Gov. Cuomo faces a growing budget mess as officials projected a shocking $6.1 billion hole in the state’s finances next year.

In an effort to patch the hole, Cuomo is considering slashing payments to hospitals and nursing homes in the current budget and perhaps next year.

“Savings may include across the board reductions in rates paid to providers and health plans, reductions in discretionary payments, and other actions that can be executed administratively in the current fiscal year,” the report reads.

You see that? Cuomo was going to slash money to hospitals and nursing homes. Just imagine how much worse he would have made things with this virus, if it had waited until May, to hit the nation. He would have weakened his state's ability to respond even further.

 

This is the reality of having a painfully ****ing incompetent in the White House.

Yeah. This is YOUR doing.

If they are not paid then there is no tax due. If they are paid then they aren't volunteers.

It’s Trump’s fault the the Gov of New York is taxing first responders from New York, who are working out of state.

I don't know if this is just an extreme, hysterical case of TDS or if there is actually supposed to be a point to this.

I'll go with the former.

I can't tell you how many posts I see where Trump's critics throw out the most far ranging criticisms, and yet, even when I ask them to provide proof that "Trump didn't do X," they are never able to provide no proof, to back up their accusations. Most times I think they heard someone from their favorite media outlet criticize Trump, and all they do is soak in in, without thought, and regurgitate it here.

Trump's critics here seldom ever offer any constructive criticism of Trump over this pandemic. The MSNBC meme of Orange man bad is the extent of it.

 

This is not at all a surprise....NY has had decades of Dem policies and well prior to the pandemic they have had major major revenue issues due to their leftwing policies.

And he's not just taxing their NY income, the tax ALL their income received while they are in the State, even the money from their employers who kept them on payroll while they volunteered in NY
