They seem to be mostly opposed to it (tho its a pretty small sample so far...). Interestingly, the hoplophobes havn't weighed in at all yet.
Should illegals have guns? | PoliticalForum.com - Forum for US and Intl Politics

I find it particularly interesting that the argument that won out was the literalist interpretation of the 2A, and US Code (which actually defines the arms bearing 'militia' as including "those who intend to become citizens") was the argument against... I'm calling shenanigans. I think the federal judge is up to something.

Personally I think all adults in the US (both legally and not) have the right and the justification to bear arms. I'm very surprised a federal judge agrees. In fact I suspect the federal judge DOES NOT agree, but is rather attempting to set a trap for the pro-gun, similar to what happened in the 60s-70s with the Black Panthers, who by bearing arms happened to convince a lot of racists to pass some of the early precursors to our current gun control 'regulations.'

I'm hoping todays armed citizens aren't so stupid.

All the arguments against gun control apply just as well to trying to keep guns out of the hands of immigrants. It won't work, and it will eventually be used as justification to restrict law abiding citizens instead.

...and even illegal immigrants should be able to legally defend themselves from violent criminals while waiting to find out whether they'll be deported or not.

I was not quoting scripture or bastardising it. I was referring to what pro 2nd people here say.

Any illegal alien that has violated the border two or more times is already guilty of a felony

Then somebody either the seller or the government dropped the ball on the background check

I’m not familiar with undocumented ID’s so I think it may be easily misunderstood. I’ll give you that

This isn't about the Bible. The Bible has no place in our legal system.

Sure - if they buy a gun at a store.

But, not if you just happened to have a gun.

In CA and other states, undocumented aliens can get driver's licenses.

This is beneficial, as it means they've learned our traffic laws and responsibilities.

That's better than requiring undocumented aliens to do their driving without a license.

Cute, but you well know it is out of context.

Pro 2nd people claim the 2nd confirms an inalienable right, do you agree that is what they claim?

Twenty states and the District of Columbia require background checks on sales of some or all types of firearms by private individuals, whether the sale occurs at a gun show or elsewhere.

So yes, there are balls being dropped!

The 2nd Amendment makes no such distinction.

Who do you think the people are? evidently referring to Americans.

On a side note if we were able to run a background check on the federal government they would be barred from ownership

Not so. Legal immigrants can buy guns.

    Not so.

It only took a few minutes to find this, which makes me wonder how you got it wrong.

Not all gun owners are "gun worshippers." As a gun owner, I find that statement a little insulting, not to mention needlessly hyperbolic.

How do you know that a background check wasn't done? Doesn't that depend on the state?

The constitution is well understood to refer to people (anyone within our borders) and citizens. These two do not have the same rights and privileges. For example, only citizens can vote.

And, YES. In fact, according to the constitution, some would not be allowed to run for another term of their office! Some would not be allowed to run for president.

Speaker Johnson was a key collaborator in attempting to overthrow our last election!!!! Now, Republicans made him SPEAKER!!!!

    We're so screwed up...

    Yep.

And, once it's purchased, it can pass through any number of unknown intermediate owners before it gets used in a crime.

The word "citizen" does not appear in the first ten amendments, or Bill of Rights. It definitely does not appear in the 2nd.

However, the 14th most certainly includes that word in Section 1 (the part about "no state shall"). It would be interesting to see how the SCOTUS would deal with that.
