The unemployment program was firs created back in the mid 1930's to help people get back on their feet during the depression. Now a days though this system is being abused. I want your opinion on the program as to whether or not it is being abused, and the regulations of the program to strict, to loose. I also want to know how you think we could change the program for the better to help benefit everybody.

How is it being abused? Would help if you included that in the OP.

I think the potential for abuse is much smaller than other forms of assistance because unemployment benefits are only awarded if you were employed and lost that employment through no fault of your own. The time limits are also pretty strict, and you normally have to be looking for work and available to work to qualify. Plus, the amount of money you receive as your benefit is directly based off of your income that had to have come from a documented job(you paid taxes on the income. Basically, if the IRS doesn't have a record of your earnings, you don't get unemployment for them).
