https://www.cbsnews.com/news/united-flight-emergency-landing-houston-possible-engine-fire/ Have you all noticed the HUGE number of recent airplane incidents? Near collision misses, emergency landings, and so forth? It seems like every couple of days something happens; it looks to me to be more frequent than before. The above is just one of the recent examples; there's been many, of all sorts. I never had fear of flying - the safest means of travel - but I'm starting to get spooked. Is our aerial infrastructure crumbling? Are our airplanes too old or poorly maintained? Is our traffic control falling apart? Overworked pilots and airport workers? Other reasons? It looks like we're about to have a major airplane disaster in America. Should something be done by Congress or by the Department of Transportation to get to the bottom of this and prevent a tragedy from happening? From the link above: Opinions? Those of you who have expertise in this industry, please comment. I really would like to know what to think of this.
