And this can possibly be constitutional how exactly. To specifically give money to some people because of their race and deny to others because of their race? There is no equality under Dem/Prog/Lib policies. There are attempts to force some kind of equity at the expense of some over others, to the benefit of some over others. Why do Dem/Prog/Lib's support such policies and those who advocate them

Will it stand court challenges and how far up the system will it have to go.....SCOTUS?

Universal Basic Income Hits the Bay Area—If You’re Black
Civil rights lawyers cry foul over the Golden State’s cash payments based on race

At least three guaranteed income initiatives in the San Francisco Bay Area openly discriminate against white residents, limiting or entirely preventing their participation in programs that dole out no-strings-attached cash.

The programs—all of which are publicly funded—violate both the United States and the California state constitution, lawyers say, as well as civil rights laws that ban race discrimination in contracting and by the recipients of government funds.

The initiatives include the Black Economic Equity Movement, which provides $500 a month exclusively to "Black young adults," the Abundant Birth Project, which provides $1,000 a month to "Black and Pacific Islander mothers," and the Guaranteed Income for Transgender People program, which will dole out $1,200 a month and "prioritize enrollment" of transgender "Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC)." They are financed by the National Institutes of Health, the California Department of Social Services, and the city of San Francisco, respectively.

These programs offer a preview of what could soon be the norm in the Golden State. In July 2021, California lawmakers set aside $35 million dollars in grant funding for guaranteed income pilots across the state. Though the law did not include any racial or ethnic qualifiers, in keeping with the California constitution, the state’s social services department said that it would only give out the grants to pilots that "center equity." Grant applicants were encouraged to "embed an equity-focused approach throughout each dimension" of their programs, including their "eligibility."

"It’s astonishing to me how brazen the State of California and its various Bay Areas local governments have become in violating the many laws and constitutional provisions prohibiting race discrimination," said Gail Heriot, a member of the United States Commission on Civil Rights and a professor at the University of San Diego School of Law...

Sounds racist to me. Sounds like it violates the law. Sounds like some of these people should be removed from their positions and arrested.

I only looked at the BEEM, but it doesn't look like this money is coming directly from the government.

Maybe it is funded by a grant, that does come from the government, i don't know, but that is probably how it's legal.

Affirmative action and DE&I policy will no longer be racsit until they remove the race component of the policy. Unfortunately that’s all it is.

White men need not apply because no matter what job or opportunity it is, they NEVER need help no matter how under represented they are.

this is the exact type of thing that gives the supreme court ammunition to abolish affirmative action

this is a pilot program, had they not made it racist, it would have been interesting to see the results, now it will get shot down by the courts

Gavin Newsom is just another far left racist that needs to get removed. He is single handedly killing California. How is CA going to pay for any of this? Taxing everyone until they are broke?

UBI based on race and especially on whether you're transgender or not is stupid. If you're going to do UBI and it's not going to everyone, it should go to those who are low income regardless of any qualifiers like race, gender(both anatomic and identify), sexual orientation, religion, etc etc etc.

Every experiment about sending in similar resume's in with ethnic black and ethnic white names, always show the same ethnic group being at the short end. Is that what you mean?

Instead of attempting to defend this or come up with anecdotal what aboutisms.... Is it possible to just simply say it's wrong and racist?

OTOH, at this point anything that transfers wealth from the control of Big Bad Governments to ordinary human beings probably represents real progress.

Universal Income only given to blacks? Good, you're outraged. But rather than trying to stop it, why aren't you trying to expand it instead???

I don't know why you're bringing in the constitution, though, local, state, or federal. When did the constitution care about equal treatment and outcomes regardless of circumstances?

Besides, this is being handed out by social services. It's their job to allocate spending to people in need in the community.

Maybe because people should work for a living instead of sitting on their ass expecting a monthly handout?

No one deserves anything simply because they exist.
