I can see there are a lot of people who are quite upset here (and I'm sure around the nation) about Phil Robertson being indefinitely suspended.

If you are upset, contact A&E and tell them why. 1 (212) 210-1400

If you're an educator, make sure you send an email to this link as it's for "Educators/Classroom/Community Outreach" and let them know that you refuse to allow their hypocrisy and contempt of the first amendment in your classroom.

Sorry about the post here and in the other forum mods... Not sure how to delete a thread once I start it. I tried to delete the one in the political forum because I think this one is more appropriate but it wouldn't let me.

What are you going to say? I want this hate filled person back on TV?

If you are an educator and you think this is a 1st amendment issue, please change professions.

Well this is what I said.

So let me get this right. It's acceptable for homosexuals to express their first amendment rights and push their lifestyle onto people who disagree with it but when Phil Robertson expresses an opinion that many millions of Americans also hold that is not flattering to the homosexual agenda you attempt to silence him and remove him from the show?

I am a faithful watcher of Duck Dynasty and I am appalled by your actions. I hope the Robertson's take their incredibly successful show and take it to a network that actually appreciates it's audience that holds traditional Christian values.

I'm going to tell everyone that will listen to me about your hypocrisy and your moral ineptitude.

I look forward to you capitulating when the majority of your viewers express their disgust for your contempt of Christian values, morality and the right to free speech.

It's on it's 4th or 5th season now, obviously you are wrong. Normal people are watching it. Meanwhile in progressive land, "the new normal" didnt even make it past season 1. Theres your "normalcy" test.

And how is it not a first amendment issue? By that I mean, A&E will GLADLY stand up for the 1st amendment rights of homosexuals to express their point of view but they don't do so when someone expresses something that they disagree with.

This is not a 1st amendment issue first of all. Secondly, the market will decide if it is okay, right now in this country it is less acceptable to say ignorant things about people. You could say that but my guess is even the guy who answers the phone will laugh about it.

You are appalled by the fact that they are protecting their brand because they don't want to be associated with such hate filled rants against gays and someone who said that blacks loved living in the south in the pre-civil right era.

What is hypocritical about this move?

Again no one is taking away his right to free speech....

Because the 1st amendment protects you from legal action for your words. A&E not letting him use their forum to spew his opinions has nothing to do with the 1st amendment. Guess what they have no obligation to give anyone they disagree with a forum.

Well actually you can misjudge, NBC thought everyone would rally behind 2 gay dads and a baby mama. A new kind of comedy they called it.

Then they saw this core audience was a lot smaller than their level of noise implied.

Here is what Phil has to say. He is far from hate filled but with the hate filled PC crowd, you cannot speak your mind anymore.

Where did I say they were taking away his right to free speech? I said they were attempting to silence him by punishing him through removing him from the show. Which is exactly what they're doing. It IS a first amendment issue because if someone who supports homosexuality wants to express his beliefs he's free to do so but when someone who disagrees with homosexuality expresses their beliefs they're not free to do so.

If the shoe were on the other foot and people were allowed to talk about how immoral and disgusting homosexuality is and then when someone who attempted to support homosexuality was removed... you are going to sit here with a straight face and tell me that you wouldn't be crying about first amendments and the right to their opinion. Get serious.

That is not all his said and you would know that if you go and read the article (or have someone read it to you). So I have to ask, why do you have to lie to support him.

I did not say it was a LEGAL issue of the first amendment. It is a free speech issue. He is being PUNISHED not for having his beliefs but because he had the audacity to express them in public. Period. Whether you admit that or not is really of no consequence.

And you don't post all he said either... because he expresses that he does love them regardless of their debase behavior. He just disagrees with it and think it's on the same moral level as beastiality. Which many millions of people happen to agree with.

Now, I am not that familiar with this fellow Phil, I do not watch much TV. However I have heard what he said, and I disagree with him completely, but scolding him and calling a group of country folk names and ''grouping'' them is pretty much what he has done. It's Phil's mouth, ''he'' said what he said, it's his words, and if there be consequences then they are his alone..[In my humble opinion].

It's ''grouping'' people that start these things, and more ''grouping'' only makes matters worse.

If you don't like what he says then you need to speak to him about it. BTW, saying the men should prefer vaginas over a mans anus is not hate speech, it is an opinion. I suppose if you think men should prefer another mans anus, then you could possibly be enraged with hate.

But you linked it to the 1st amendment.....or right to free speech.

Of course they are and they do it every day. All over the place. Again, the 1st amendment only applies if someone was making a law to stop saying that.

Yes because it is isn't a 1st amendment issue. I don't say that there is a first amendment issue when a Christian radio station won't play the music of gay musicians because they don't have to.......nor do I think this clown should go to jail for what he said, but A&E can decide what they want on their airwaves. That is a fact and it has nothing to do with the 1st amendment. If you can't understand that then I feel bad for you.

There have always been points in history where the depravity in society has reached a point where the society is willing to accept homosexuality as "normal". I would like to point out a couple things though.

#1. In EVERY SINGLE ONE of those societies, without exception, they start to not only accept the disturbing immoral behavior of homosexuality, but they start to accept AT LEAST one other immoral act that is on the same level as homosexuality that they did not accept before. Beastiality, pedophilia, incest, etc etc

#2. And more importantly... those societies ALL eventually come BACK to the conclusion that homosexuality (along with those other activities) are disturbing, immoral, unethical and loathsome. They will ALWAYS come back to this conclusion. Even this time. It might take a while, as it did in other groups... but it will ALWAYS come back to this conclusion.
