I keep hearing the argument on this forum that US Attorney Delaware, David Weiss, that despite the fact that he was appointed by Bill Barr, despite the fact that he was allowed to finish the investigation of Hunter Biden, which took 5 years, that the reason he only indicted Hunter Biden for 2 misdemeanors, and not more serious crimes, was due to the pressure from Garland and Biden to be easy on his own son.

Garland has made a public statement refuting this claim,

that Weiss was granted total authority to do whatever he decided was right, and Weiss, in confirmation of AG Garland's clarification on this point, has confirmed it in his letter to Jim Jordan. To wit:

The hard truth is, and I know the right doesn't want to hear it, but for all their hoopla of innuendo, claims of 'Biden Crime Family', despite the fact that Hunter Biden, true, was a black sheep in the Biden family, but being a black sheep isn't criminal, and while taking drugs is illegal, the consensus in the professional community is that such individuals need treatment, not prosecution, but, other than that, despite the fact that Hunter traded on his father's name, noting that he admits it, understand that it's not illegal, and there simply is no evidence of any more serious crimes than what Hunter was indicted for, for if there were, Weiss would have indicted him. He was appointed as a Republican by a Republican and allowed to finish the job by Hutner's own father, in an attempt to not appear to be tipping the scales in his family's favor, but, despite all of this, the right continues to cling to the false notion that Hunter is getting an easy treatment, never mind the fact that neither you nor I would ever be assigned a 5 year investigation by a special counsel unless, of course, your name is Hunter Biden. But, according to Republicans, getting raked over the coals by Republicans for 5 frickin' years is 'easy treatment'.

Never mind that I'm going to start another thread pointing to Donald Trump's very real influence peddling, but of course, the right doesn't want to hear about that.

Well, you're going to hear about it.

Everything about the Hunter case looks like an excuse for whataboutism. Even the fact that he wasn't charge on what, to me, is the most serious offense for which there is actual EVIDENCE: the illegal gun possession charge.

None of these are typically charged. But refusing to go ahead with the gun charge (to which he basically confessed in his autobiography) looks like an attempt to cater to the gun lobby.
