The darlings of stupidity have this all figured out. There latest brainstorm is to hire illegals as police officers. I kid you not. I would like to know where in the Constitution of any state that an illegal alien has the right to arrest an American citizen in the U.S.A. It amazes me that we have all these people in this country, who broke the law by illegal entry, and we supply them with a driver's license, health care, housing, business loans, schooling for the whole family, food, clothing and a job or job training. If that isn't welfare, I don't know what is.

 

Someone with work authorization is legally present in the US. They aren't "illegal".

 

Because one ignores the Constitution and grants law breakers status as documented until a court date a few years down the road for the purpose of political gain does not make them legal illegals. If you believe they are legal then they wouldn't be subject to the whims of future political regime's. Thier status is totally dependent on who is in power at the moment. The "dreamers" are a testament to what I am saying. They are subject to deportation at any time.

 

They have work authorization. The US government has granted them status.

As someone who works from home for the last two years, and worked in manufacturing shops prior to that, I can say that your last statement there is by no means universal. I get more work done at home than I did at my previous jobs, and I get more work done at home right now than I do when I drive over and work in our large office building once or twice a month. In an office, there's always something to go do, someone to go talk to, and a bunch of people also having the same thought who come and talk to you. If you work a job that you can just as easily do at home, such as mine, productivity can actually improve because there is less distraction and you are more comfortable.

I suspect your apprehension to working from home is not coming from a position of objectivity.

 

And where are they working? We have as many Mexican restaurants in my town as we have gas stations. We have houses were 4 or 5 Latino families are living together, the men sitting on the porch drinking beer and the woman and kids hanging out the windows. You see them on the streets with their kids in tow, panhandling, taking away good panhandling jobs from Veterans. Every day you see the Rescue Squads being called because some kid or young adult has overdosed on Fentanyl. Youth violence, between rival drug gangs, has become so rampant that everyone just seems to be numb to it.

So, when you say something like I have no idea what I'm talking about all I can think about, is a quote from Herbert Spencer, which may apply to you. Well let's see. In high school I dated a Filipino girl, I took a Syrian girl to the prom. I married a full blooded Cherokee Indian. I had a mother-law suite off my house and I rented it mainly to blacks in an all white neighborhood. I have two grandchildren who are 1/2 black and one grandchild who I dearly love that is living with a Filipino. Many of my bosses were black and I worked under a Vietnamese for almost 3 years. I opened two recovery houses, one for drug addicts and one for alcoholics, with minorities being the main occupants. Two of my best friends are black. But if you want to call me a racist that doesn't bother me at all. If you feel that you are a victim of discrimination or being mistreated by whites all I can say is "you're not a victim, you're a volunteer".

This tangent started because someone was mad that Chicago was hiring people who aren't US citizens but have work authorization as police officers.

No one has ever said that every person with work authorization (EAD) is working. It's a primary for of ID so even kids get them.

Sure if they have a green card. An illegal is someone who doesn't have a green card or any documents allowing the to be legally in the US.

 

If they have work authorization, it means they are in some type of legal status.

There are plenty of types of legal status that don't require having a green card.

People with work authorization are here legally. They must have obtained some sort of legal status before they are eligible for work authorization. The rules about who is eligible for work authorization have not changed.

Illegals are like a pregnant woman showing up at your house uninvited and moving in and then having a baby in the house and accusing you of being the father. The law won't remove her because of the baby. She refuses to leave, so she is given a summons for a court appearance, but the courts are back-logged for years.
