I'd like to see what weapons are being transferred prior to making an informed comment. Does anybody know or are they just guessing?

The US guys are lying. They say one thing, and arrange for the opposite, especially on the issue of Syria.

There would not be this war in Syria if the USA told the Turks, Brits, Saudis, French, Qatar, Kuwaitis that no "Islamic" re-conquest of Syria will be tolerated.

Instead, the USA is fully in support of the Talmu-"Islamic" re-conquest of Syria and all their whining about risks in disseminating advanced weapons to hordes of Allah-Akhbar cutthroat crazies is a lie, because there is no risk. They know full well they are arming the worst sort of assassins and bandits against Syria.

Small arms? That means we did learn from Operation fast and furious. The USA must be sending peashooters, small pistols, and BB guns.

Hey Syrians, if, in a few years time, you are being mowed down by machine gun fire, courtesy of organized criminals, just remember: The USA didn't do it this time.

I read somewhere mostly AK's and AR-15's but I don't recall where I saw that.

If that's the case then the following need not apply

"One way to limit the proliferation risks is to send weapons that are not commonly available in the region. This would complicate the rebels' logistical situation, but the United States and its allies could limit the supply of ammunition to those weapons, rendering the armaments ineffective once their finite supplies run out.

A possible measure to restrict the proliferation of man-portable air-defense systems would be to supply anti-aircraft weapons that are not easily hidden or portable. "

Then again, throwing a few small arms at them that they can buy locally is not exactly a game changer.

The article indicates small arms and ammo. The rest of the article is more theoretical IMO

I agree. It is an analysis on what we know now and contains nothing new.

When you try and straddle the fence you tend to get a stake up your backside. This policy will probably cause some blowback AND see the rebels lose the civil war in Syria.
