US presidential candidate Ben Carson, toward the end of Saturday's CBS Republican presidential debate, proudly repeated fake Stalin quote:

"Joseph Stalin said if you want to bring America down, you have to undermine three things: our spiritual life, our patriotism and our morality," Carson said.

But, as it turns out, Stalin have never said that.

Well his Republican supporters yes, spiritual life meaning the ability of organised religion to control the people, patriotism read nationalism or the US is always the good guy out destroying the evil and on Stalin saying that on morality - that stretches all imagination as the US tends to be seen as very free on that.

The US of course was moving away from conventional religion which was not interested in politics until the neo cons developed their plan for dealing with liberal democracy, get the people interested in religion and religion interested in politics, not them of course they were above it, and for the patriotism they very definitely spoke of developing an American Nationalism which would be in perpetual war with the evil people of the world with them always being the good guys. Looks like Carson has taken another of those, the 'Noble Lies' which the neo cons could see as necessary to get the people to agree to what only they, the elite, could understand was necessary.
