http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4346104,00.html 18 years in compleate solitary, the article say he doesnt even see the guards, 18 years. The man is a monster and a risk to society no question about it, should he suffer? ofc, but is driving a person mad diffrent from brain washing him like in clock work orenge? is death a more "humane" solution? Gee, now what poster does that remind me of......
Solitary confinement should only ever be in cases where there is imminent danger to those around him, or if the prisoner requests it for his own safety. Using it as a punishment is cruel and pointless.
I do not know all of the conditions the prisoner lives in. If he is allowed to watch tv or read books/textbooks in his cell then I would say that he is being a big baby. He is lucky he is in solitary because his time in prison would be unimaginably worse if he went to a real prison in which other prisoners would savagely beat and torment him, but then again certain prison gangs might offer to give him protection in order to gain access to his connection of oversea weapons. I see how this could pose a security threat. Let him get a few donated magazines/books/text books and a small tv with basic cable and tell him to quit whining and if he already has those things, turn the ac up in his cell and change his uniform to this:
Some countries belive in punishment and think its better than Death penelty, a mad murderer that buchers a family may be "corrected" over time but a terrorist dedicates his life for a cause, no point "correcting" him, he is a pure menece to that society and the question is does anyone has the right to demand he will suffer a death-like penelty, like the families of the murdered suffer daiyly, hard question. In Israel the murderer of our PM, Rabin, is sentenced to solitary confinement, the murderer is famous for his smug smile and lack of remurse, He is the only prisoner in Israel that has such a strange sentence, they didnt even decide how many years he is sentenced to thou its been over 20 years now. the one and only death sentence we had was of Eichman the Nazi. 2 terrorists that muredred a family in its home, a 2 year and 5 year old included together with thae parents in my eyes desreve Death penelty, The solitary punishment I expect is not easy to the guards either and raise harsh moral problems.
Most POW say the hardest torture inflicted on them, that made them break was solitary conditions, a man loses himself. but I agree that if he gets TV or even PC than its better off. still, solitary means a compleate lack of communication for at least most of his 18 years.
As an Israeli, you should campaign for the implementation of the recommendations of the Goldstone report before daring to lecture on justice.
It's not about that - prison is solely a place where you're removed from society, nothing more. There should be no punishment element. See that's exactly what I'm talking about. That punishment is cruel and unusual. If he's a danger to society remove him from that society, you don't need to go out of your way to (*)(*)(*)(*) his mind up with a lifetime of darkness and confinement. It's not about "deserving" it, the law is there to directly protect society from coercion by individuals - it has no business punishing anyone. Yeah, because they realize it's completely immoral what they're doing to this guy.
I have been incarcerated as a teenager. The worst part about being incarcerated in my opinion is missing out on what you could have done with your life. If I was sentenced to life in prison the "hardest torture inflicted" on me would be knowing that I could have had started a family, I could have started a multi-million dollar business, and I could have benefited all of mankind by becoming a philanthropist and by becoming a politician. If I was in prison for the rest of my life I could easily and comfortably live in a cell for 23 hours a day if I had access to magazines/books/text books and a small tv with basic cable. That is why I think that this terrorist person is being an extremely big baby. If I was in prison for the rest of my life and did not have access to magazines/books/text books or a small tv and if it was just me, a bed, a toilet, and 4 walls I could see how a person could lose themselves. In that scenario I would try to make the most out of my time, but if I couldn't find a decent way to spend my time I would probably just prefer death. So as I said before "Let him get a few donated magazines/books/text books and a small tv with basic cable and tell him to quit whining and if he already has those things, turn the ac up in his cell and change his uniform to this:" View attachment 18195
I'm thinking they gave him internet access because I hear his words prattled about on here every day.
