The US isn't using Mongol tactics in Afghanistan. It is using tactics based on a fusion of Lawfare and Counter-Insurgency Doctrine.

Well, off the top of my head:

    1. Any of the family of shoulder launched missiles (surface to surface or surface to air)

    2. any of three or four attack helicopters.
    3. Warthog close ground support
    4. lockheed AC130

    5. M107 or Barrett M82, semi auto sniper rifles.
    6. Ye olde reliable claymore and assorted other nasty mines
    7. Attack/surveillance drones

And the deadliest weapons deployed - Special forces operators (US/UK/Can)

Those weapons are ineffective against the fuzzy wuzzies. People on a Mission from God to evict Infidels from the Ummah are prepared to throw their flesh against steel. If that doesn't work they are prepared to throw the flesh of their sons against the Infidels. If that doesn't work they are prepared to throw the flesh of their grandsons against the Infidels.

The tactics of the fuzzy wuzzies can be defeated, but it requires a level of ruthlessness for which the West is no longer prepared. Since the West is unwilling to use effective tactics because of its moral code, it is immoral to send Western troops to face death without hope of victory. The best policy is not to get involved with the fuzzy wuzzies. If they strike the homeland again, kill them all. That's easy.

Are you serious? You believe that the public doesn't need to know, but you also believe that you are fighting for democracy. Nice bit of double-think there.

Pointing to a suspicious incident that has been covered up for years is over-reacting in your world is it? What should we do? Just sit around chewing our cud like good little sheep, because our rulers know best?

And what do you think the reason could be for covering up this dirty little story?
