I feel as strongly about gay rights as I do about my right to bear arms and my right to freedom of religion and speech. If our country were to magically covert into something resembling, say, Iran, my head would not remain on my shoulders for long.

You'll get intolerance, FOR your intolerance. That is reality. And NO ONE who is reasonable has demanded that YOU accept anything. Still, if what you communicate is hateful, expect responses which are commensurate with the same. In other words, be 'realistic'.

Where it comes to homosexuals, you have not necessarily 'communicated' (substantiated) that. Really, most anyone reading your words here, has fair reason to 'doubt' (and profoundly so) what you are claiming.

Our representative democracy and our Constitution are both designed to protect individuals from the tyranny of the majority.

 

Tyranny of the majority is still tyranny. Our country was not founded on majority rule, and for this very reason.

If you are going to claim that you are fighting a dictatorship, you really need to show how anyone is being harmed or being forced to do anything against their will.

 

As a Christian, libertarian, American, married, father of two, I just don't understand your anger.

Why must you "continue fighting" against an activity that harms absolutely no one and takes place in relative privacy?

It's akin to saying we have to "continue fighting" against people that use their sleeve for a napkin at home. Who cares?
