Using Democratic Party rules, Obama should have been impeached for obstruction

    How soon my liberal/progressive/socialist friends here forget.

    Although I agree that the executive branch should have its power reduced while congressional power is increased, it seems my hyper-partisan friends here are not recognizing the precedent they are setting.

    For example, Obama clearly obstructed congress when his administration was caught flooding Mexico with illegally purchased firearms from the U.S. during his first term.

    His 'wingman,' attorney general Eric Holder, lied to congress and refused to turn over numerous documents to a congressional oversight committee, with Obama eventually invoking executive privilege to keep the documents out of investigators' hands.

    In fact, Trump is already using the Obama precedent to shield his own AG:

    Many of us on the right have repeatedly cautioned those on the left who continue to cheer blatantly partisan acts (such as the Reid Rule, bypassing congress by using a 'pen and a phone' and abusing executive power), amongst others.

    Yet many leftists here will pretend this corruption never occurred and will act as if the Republican congress and Trump are acting in a vacuum.

    Sadly, you can bet the next Democratic president will likely face a Republican congress who will impeach him or her at the drop of a hat. Unless, of course, Trump and the Republicans soundly beat the Democrats because so many normal Americans were disgusted by the left's impeachment nonsense...

    In fairness, they were still smarting from the Democratic-controlled senate exonerating Bill Clinton after his impeachment and thought doing so to Obama would have backfired on them, much as it appears to be backfiring for Democrats today.

    Good OP. The republicans are not as c****** s*** about calling out the democrats. That and the MSM that runs cover for the democrats are the very reason the republicans did not start impeachment hearings against Obama.

    Using your logic then George W Bush should have been impeached because Fast and Furious was a continuation of Wide Receiver conducted by the same Arizona ATF office, selling guns to Mexicans.

    That may be the point. Set the precedent for this kind of usurping of democratic process, and it becomes the norm. No elected leader will ever be safe.

    This is patently false. It was also the first attempt at leftist deflection and soon abandoned by liberals/progressives/socialists.

    Wide receiver attempted to track firearms. The Obama administration made no effort to do so, which is why an ATF whistleblower came forward.

    You do recall this, or are even aware of this?

    You don't need "rules" to impeach. You need crimes... Impeachable crimes. You know... stuff like abusing power for personal benefit.

    It's clear that Trump supporters still don't get it.

    "Statute"? You still don't get what "impeachment" means, do you? Sorry... but it's getting late. Your guy is being impeached tomorrow. If you don't know what it means by now... you'll just never know.

    Here you go...

    Article II, Section 4
    The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

    not even close to the same as Trump obstructing documents requested in an impeachment inquiry

    obstruction witnesses and documents form congress during an impeachment inquiry is in itself a impeachable offense

    the precedent this impeachment sets is that no future President can ask a foreign government to go after their political opponents

    Trump's fans are desperate to change the subject. Their hero is guilty and they know it. They also know that Republicans are going to exonerate him.

    In other words, according to the Republican Party, it is okay for the President to invite foreign interference in our Presidential elections for his benefit, use bribery of a foreign leader as incentive, and cover up his behavior by obstructing Congress.

    Trump's fans also know that Americans will remember this come November 3. The GOP has already lost key elections in 2018 and 2019, including control of the House, because of Trump.

    No wonder they want to change the subject.
