Again, SHOW where this theory exists in your schools’ curricula, in order for it to be banned...

Well, I AM a fellow educator myself, and I've seen a bit of it trickling in hither and thither here in California - not near my neck of the woods but it's there. It's actually more of an attack ON the teachers BY the Archangels at the state level. As usual.

So maybe you can answer this question for me: When McAuliffe said “I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions ...I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” do you think he was JUST focusing on sexually explicit books being used in classrooms? I dunno how they do it in Oz but here the students and their parents are our clientele, we work FOR them, they don't work for US. We answer to the parents - but maybe in Oz things are different, I guess. McAuliffe has a seriously disturbed way of looking at how schools work - when I heard THAT - I mean, you talk about arrogance and authoritarianism ...!

You maybe don't see THIS as a warning sign that there's more than just smoke out there, there's some fire as well?

Are you also against Youngkin's executive order directing his attorney general to investigate allegations of corruption and wrongdoing in Loudoun County’s education system, where you got the school board members covering up sex crimes?

Check the title of this thread....it’s not about it’s effect on me.

Inability to intelligently discuss the issue noted. Your surrender is accepted...

You think that the retired marine, a female African American immigrant Lt. Governor and a Hispanic American son of immigrants state AG are nuts and pretty homogeneous?

As an educator, do you think parents should be TELLING schools what they should teach? Seriously?

So I can come in and say my kid should be learning axe juggling 4th period and boom, it's on the menu??

Parents have always been able to SUGGEST what schools should teach.... Since schools were invented back in the 1970's...

But TELL? No.... Let the people trained in education determine the best way to educate (with appropriate inputs of course).

McAuliffe was SPOT ON with his statement and he got burned by the idiocracy....

This thread is about the CURRENT governor and his ban on a particular theory being taught in schools...which you, as an educator, also seem unable to identify in any curriculum...!

Egoboy is correct...the degree of deflection, whataboutism and denial is evidence enough that this ban is fake...time to move on.

I sure as hell wouldn't say what Terry said. On TOP of that - hey, they pay our salaries, they sure as heck have SOME say in what we teach. And if we act against their wishes, - hey, there's those pesky elections for the Board of Education. This actually happened at my district not many years ago: The Superintendant had four of his cronies voting for everything he wanted and ran the place like a lo-level Boss Tweed. We actually lost a principal when he asked her to hide a few million in her school's budget as kind of his personal slush fund - and she said no. When the city found out, three of the three cronies that were up for re-election were soundly voted out with people who represented the city voted in. Surprisingly, the superintendent quickly retired.

So again, should parents tell schools what to do? One way or another - they will.

I expect better from you than hyperbole. You know there's safety issues here.

Nah, what he was was stupid. Trying to think of a way he could have put it - "Of course we value parent input. I would of course welcome parent feedback at the state and local level where we can reason together on this." But that would be acting with enlightened self-interest. Nah, instead there he is TELLING voters that HE will decide what goes on in schools. He's an idiot - if that's the way he talks to voters, I am astounded he got elected to anything past dog-catcher.

Go ahead and show us where it's not.

It really doesn't matter if it is or it's not we've seen it trending Nationwide but one thing we know it won't be happening there.

If you want to indoctrinate children with racist b******* you'll have to do it in another state.

I have found that when fighting fires prevention is the best method, and if something is on fire put it out while the fire is still small....

You guys are the ones claiming it's not being taught so where is your evidence?

Did the op even say it's being taught?

Show me where I said it's being taught there.

The only claim I'm making is we know for certain where that b******* won't be taught.

We can show you where a teacher's Union wanted to have the government classify parents as terrorists who objected to this b******* being talked to their children.

In fact there was a thread here in the last day or two just about it

Uhm, both myself and @SouthernFried87 just posted links where they were indeed setting up CRT there - I think we even had a thread or two about it here. But I'll accept your gracious defeat. Move on, indeed.

Banning CRT is but one of many executive actions taken by the Governor of Virginia and described in the article I brought here. No masks coerced upon children, no vaccine mandates for state workers, and so much more.

The governor signed nine executive orders that address the following issues:

    • To restore excellence in education by ending the use of divisive concepts, including Critical Race Theory, in public education.
    • To empower Virginia parents in their children’s education and upbringing by allowing parents to make decisions on whether their child wears a mask in school.
    • To restore integrity and confidence in the Parole Board of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
    • To investigate wrongdoing in Loudoun County.
    • To make government work for Virginians by creating the Commonwealth Chief Transformation Officer.
    • To declare Virginia open for business.
    • To combat and prevent human trafficking and provide support to survivors.
    • To establish a commission to combat antisemitism.
    • To withdraw from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).
In addition to the executive orders, Youngkin signed two executive directives that will "cut job regulations by 25%" and rescind the coronavirus vaccine mandate for state employees.

Good it sounds like he's wasting no time tossing out the destructive policies of his predecessor.

Or make them buy health insurance or inject stuff into their bodies or be punished for it.

Do you really want to debate who is authoritarian?

Ask him what he thinks that should happen to people who refuse the vaccine particularly parents.

His opinion there is probably the foremost example of an extremist position I've seen on all my years on this forum.

I don’t know if you live in the US, but schools are organized and paid for by a local community via property taxes. One of my kids attends an elementary school in our community for which I’m literally paying for via my property tax. Parents and the local community absolutely have a say in what is being taught, as we are the ones funding it. That’s why there are school board elections where local property tax payers elect people who manage local schools.
So, if we, the county property tax payers, don’t want something in our schools, we have the absolute right to remove it.

Particularly so when they're teaching that venomous racist and harmful ideology.

Telling all the little white children that they're racist by virtue of birth and inherently bad and telling all the other little children that they're victims of the white devils

The pendulum is swinging in a big way. Leftists way overplayed their hand and now Americans are going to punish them for it.

Okay but Virginia abolished parole like 25+ years ago. The only people still eligible for parole hearings are those folks who really really screwed up to still be in prison this long.

Talk about hitting the ground running!

VA Governor Glenn Youngkin Overturns Mandates and Takes on Critical Race Theory Immediately Upon Taking Office.

New Va. Gov. Youngkin issues executive orders on COVID mandates, CRT and more. “Executive Order Number Two delivers on his Day One promise to empower Virginia parents in their children’s education and upbringing by allowing parents to make decisions on whether their child wears a mask in school.”

Winsome Sears to make history as first woman — and Black woman — to be Virginia’s Lt. Governor.

UPDATE: Virginia’s New AG Fires Civil Rights Division, Will Start Prosecuting Cases Dropped By ‘Social Justice’ DAs.
