OK, I defended the Trump administration here, when it was divulged that they passed on pre-ordering 100 million additional doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the summer.

I said, the administration didn't want to put all eggs in one basket, and also reserved 100M from Moderna, 100M from J&J, 100M from Sanofi/GSK, 300M from Oxford/AstraZeneca, 100M from Novavax, etc.

Without a crystal ball, they couldn't know which ones would succeed. Sanofi/GSK's, for example, has failed and was withdrawn. What if the Pfizer one were to fail? So, complaining now would be Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

But whoa, now Pfizer's CEO says that as recently as NOVEMBER he offered the administration more doses, and they passed again! WTF??? By November, Pfizer's status as frontrunner and the extraordinary success of its vaccine in preliminary data were already known!!!

And the CEO said that negotiating with the administration has been "challenging."

Hmm, so the offer appears to have been refused after the election result was known. I'm not fully convinced that this vaccine should be number one but it does appear that the Trump admin does not want Biden to receive any kudos with regards to this pandemic following the receipt of a second order in the spring
