not sure the point, it was the non-gun user that acted professional, did not escalate the situation, did not risk his life over a min wage job, remained calm, let the cops see the video and handle it later

was smart to try and get the gun owner to touch the cash drawer for fingerprints too - he touched it a little I think, not positive

hopefully they catch the gun owner and lock him up for a long long time

 

All I saw was some white punk who didn’t want to give a black guy his wages, until the black guy kinda got just alittle, minor ly, sort of, slightly upset. Now the poor black dude may need professional help in dealing with his hurt feelings over being treated like a common criminal

 

That gun had a stovepipe and would not have fired if the trigger was pulled, had I been the cashier, I would have grabbed the gun tore it out of the guys hand, cleared it and shot him if he didn't quickly surrender.

 

Confused by the above. It would not have fired but you would have fired it?

 

The whole thing looked faked, tbh. Both of them were far too calm.
Presumably in a real situation there would have been a foot-operated alarm button.

Yes I could have fired it, I know how to clear a stovepipe very quickly, just pull the slide slightly back and using my left thumb push the base of the round into the gun, then release the slide and if the gun goes into battery it's ready to fire, if it gets hung on the ejector, I would hold it firmly with my right hand and punch the slide forward with the palm of my left hand forcing the ejector over the rim of the brass, putting it into battery.

Then the perp has 2 options, get on the floor and keep his hands where I can see them or turn around, take off running and get away from me real fast.

The cops can find him later and I have a gun, which is probably stolen, off the streets where it is out of circulation and will never be used for an "illegal" purpose, ever again.

"Cleared it" means clearing the jam. Surprising you didn't know that.

 

So the guy with the gun will just allow him to take it and also clear it?

 

You can clear a stovepipe jam in a flash. Well.... maybe not you, but people who know what a stovepipe jam is. The bad guy would be dead before he could say "Hey that's my gun....".

 

This would be a great question to ask those of us who carry firearms on us, would we intervene or not.

Probably against company policy. If JJ is like most chain stores, employees are contractually obligated to just cooperate and call the cops afterwards. Its prolly easier to file an insurance claim against armed robbery than against personal injury in the attempt of preventing armed robbery... I bet a gun isn't even necessary at some places.

 

I am so glad that is not a thing here - armed robberies are rare - especially gun robberies. See if you don’t have a lot of unrecorded guns washing around the country then the crims cannot buy them

 

Hmmm....a Bing search of "Armed Robbery in Australia" sure tells a different tale, my particular favorite is "Armed Robbery Defense Lawyers, Sidney", who proudly proclaim "...our criminal lawyers know how to beat Armed robbery charges...". Rare, Phtttt...

 

The action was out of battery there was no risk that gun wouldn't have fired anyway.
