I truly do not understand how DeSantis can be blowing this. After his reelection, he had the eventual GOP nomination practically in-hand. Yeah, Trump's still an influential figure but he's imploding. All DeSantis had to do was present himself as the sane version of Trump. The adult version. Instead, we have this... How this man manages to make Trump look like a decent person is beyond me. But I suppose that's what happens when you hire zealots and Tik Tok generation morons to run your campaign for you.
