Early framers of the US constitution discussed the possibility of not allowing the inheritance of wealth. It's not a new idea. You can even go back to ancient Greeks where there often were slaves wealthier than their owners and even bought their freedoms with wealth gained while a slave. The bottom line is how do you replace greed with pride?
I think it is a sensible idea in theory but would be hard to impliment. You would have to figure out how to avoid parents gifting to their children before they die and then being left destitute as they live longer than expected. A truly meritocratic society would mean we all start with the same or at least somewhat similar starting points of wealth and privilege, and then earn our own ways from there, with little to no help for those who then fall behind. I've never really seen either liberals or conservatives support this.
Cash, bonds and stocks, ie financial gifts over annual minimum wage taxed at 90%. Ditto inheritance. Pretty rotten kids if they leave their parents destitute because they were gifted too much. I am only talking about the hyper-rich. Sure, there are complications to work out but the trend of more and more money going to and then staying with the hyper-rich needs adjusting. I figure if faced with a huge inheritance tax getting implemented or accepting less now and paying more to shift the wealth distribution might get their attentions. I can see no justification for the top 1% getting more than the bottom 90% but I can see that backfiring on the top 1% big time.
Exactly. Every "political persuasion" test/questionnaire I've ever taken plants me dead center in the left/right/authoritarian/anarchist spectrum. The neo left simply accuses others of what they are.
Thomas Jefferson said http://press-pubs.uchicago.edu/founders/documents/v1ch2s23.html There are more examples but this is the best I believe having come from a soon to be president and author of the Constitution.
He authored the Declaration, he wasn't at the Constitutional Convention. If the constitution would have attacked private ownership like that, it would have never been approved and the States would have never ratified it.
UC Davis Brags About Diversity for MLK Day -- While Employing Prof Who Threatened Jews with Death 'A Tuesday message from the university’s Human Resources department boasted that the school is “consistently ranked by Forbes as a great employer for diversity,” adding that the ranking “is a result of the hard work Dr. King started and our workforce advances day in, day out.” …' 'As recently as Dec. 22, UCSD confirmed to Campus Reform that assistant professor of American Studies Jemma Decristo was still employed at the university after threatening Jewish journalists with death, home invasion, and kidnapping via a social media post following the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel.' Her bloodlust against Jews inflamed by Hamas' mass rape and mass murder of young unarmed Jewish Women: Note her emojis, knife, hatchet, blood.
Yep, no one is ever able to build a family business or farm and hand it down to the next generations. The government confiscates it all and keeps everyone poor and dependent upon the state. It’s called communism, and it’s what the far left wants. Do you support taking 100% of George Soros’ assets when he kicks off, or should he be able to hand them down to his fascist son who will continue the family program for a totalitarian state? Or do you believe you 100% plan should only be applied to conservatives and small business owners?
If my son needed my money he'd be in my will in a heartbeat. But he's a Cornell and Fordham Law grad, full partner in a big (yet wokish) law firm. He doesn't need a cent from me. But my money should go to whom I want it to go to. I earned it. Its mine. My nephew and his family will get a chunk. My high school will get a chunk. West Point was going to get some until it went woke. Some cats will be saved with a chunk (we love cats). Tunnel to Towers and Veterans groups will see some. Oh, and the NRA.
Of course they're nor prepared for the workplace, having been given safe spaces and trigger warnings:
THE YOUNGER PROFESSORS ARE EVEN WORSE ON FREE SPEECH: 'This graph shows the sharp divide between younger and older faculty cohorts when it comes to respect for free speech norms:' Some faculty are crazy and have no business there. https://instapundit.com/628525/
My son is a Cornell graduate. Cornell is certainly as biased and radical as you suggest. It does more damage than good.
Actually many conservatives push for fatal border measures. Trump himself opinioned shooting border crossers. His cult latched on to that and would be more than happy to oblige.
What in God's name are "fatal border measures"? Do you have any PROOF that anyone is shooting the illegals? Please provide it if you do. Please provide PROOF that Trump proposed shooting illegals. Facts are much better than imaginings.
