I care to an extent what he does in private if he's running for a public office. The fact that he is on record as saying he doesn't know if all of the females he was texting with were adults is a huge problem...private or public, this guy shouldn't even be allowed on a ballot. And I totally agree about the lying part.
The sleaze factor on this is massive. I'm not sure which is worse, that Weiner resumed sexting while his wife was pregnant and just as he was launching a campaign for Mayor, or that his wife "supports" him and appears willing to ignore his behavior in the hopes she can become Mrs. Mayor. Hopefully the voters will have nothing to do with this sleazy couple; look at how Democrats turned against the Clintons, right?
He could get his wife pregnant, then abandon her to fly around the country sampling brothels from every county for all I care. It's irrelevant. If he coerces someone, say by raping them, then it'd affect my vote. If his policies are coercive, then It'd affect my preferences. I care about him lying because it's a form of fraud and means I can't really trust him again, to the extent that one trusts politicians in general.
I hear you. We all have different things we value. The part that most bothers me, is that some of the females he texted could be minors. He doesn't know if they were all adults and admitted as such. I can't look past that. The lying of course is the next thing to me.
