Some ground rules - anything relating to the riots, real or imagined, or other civil unrest related to the Zimmerman verdict, must be posted in the stickied thread "All Things Related To Riots Or Civil Unrest" thread. Otherwise we'd just have to name the forum "Zimmerman Riots." We'll give that a try for the time being, and see how it works. Anyone posting a new thread about riots or civil unrest will be banned from the entire forum, so if this is something that you really want to be discussing, keep that in mind.

We'll let this forum boil away for a few days, and then when things cool down a bit, merge it back into Current Events. That way the threads will still be archived.

Aside from that, the ground rules remain pretty much the same - tempers are high, so people will need a thick skin. We're going to try to call it as loosely as possible, but the basic forum rules against insults, racial slurs, and flamebaiting still apply. Get angry if you wish, even unpleasant if you must, but you still need to stop short of personal attacks and racial slurs. We'll let things go as much as we can right up to the edge of the rules, but we won't throw the rulebook out.

Thanks for your understanding, and your help in keeping this topic viable here.

First of all, no doubt this tragic event was not about race or ethnicity it was about an encounter between two people Zimmerman acting for the good of the community approach Trayvon because he was acting suspiciously not because he was black and it would seem Trayvon resented being approach by a white man and if there was any racism it was Trayvon who was the racist instead of politely identifying himself he decided to beat up Zimmerman because as I said again Trayvon resented a white man questioning him. Also the word "polite" does not seem to exist with many teenagers any more now a days? It was very clear that Trayvon's supporters kept on insisting this is about race and to make it worse the media especially CNN kept on implying and injecting with their daily programs pushing and making it appear that it was about race. By the way Zimmerman is not a white man he is a brown man

The court have got it right, Zimmerman is not guilty this was not about race and the media have an obligation to make things right by reporting the actual facts and events and stop inciting the black community that this was about racism.
