The USA government just passed a $61 billion bill to help Ukraine defend itself from the 2-year-old Russian invasion. How about we split that amount by giving $30 billion to Ukraine and $30 billion to defend our southern border where we're being invaded.

Why just the Ukraine. Why not also take funding protecting the borders ofTaiwan, South Korea, Japan, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Isreal. That would spread the burdon

Last January, a bipartisan bill was proposed to bring about a lasting solution to the border situation.

The border patrol came out publicly in support of this bill.

They said, and I quote, that this was the biggest advance in securing the border in decades.

    Who killed this bill?

This sentiment is widely circulated amongst the segment of the Republicans to justify abandoning Ukraine to being conquered by Russia, always lacking an answer to the fundamental questions that derive from it:

    1) in what way is Russia conquering Ukraine in the USA’s best interest?

    2) Assume for a second the border gets unlimited money and any law you feel like passing automatically being passed. You still have a President who doesn’t give a crap about enforcement of our border and is quite happy ignoring any law and allowing immigrants to flow across our border, whom he could stop right now, today, if he actually felt like it without any bill being passed and with the dollars already allocated. Now what?

I have yet to hear anyone explain ^^ the above to me.

Tell us how much did we put toward our own border?

This is a sad state of affairs

Do you think they realize how infuriating it is to watch elected representatives cheerfully waving foreign flags on the floor of the House while allowing the invasion of out own country..

Our enemies have crossed our own borders and are amongst us.... WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

And now the big question is whether Johnson will put a stand alone border bill up for a vote.

I've said this before. The Dems could easily take the wind out of the sails of the GOP immigration talking point, by letting them build the wall. Then, the GOP would own it, and if it didn't work, it would be on them.

    It's not

False! This President pays way more attention to the border than us progressives think he should. Including keeping longer than he should the inhumane treatment prescribed in Title 42 long after the pandemic was over. He doesn't have the power to stop the flow of immigrants. No President has. Trump would have loved to have that power. Even when he got emergency powers that he abused (Title 42), he couldn't stop it.

You are repeating a Fox-Noise false talking point with no basis whatsoever.

The bi-partisan immigration bill passed by the Senate has provisions that probably violate international law. However, it's the least of all evils.

That bill was a piece of bullshit. All it did was give Biden more money to spend on letting more illegals into the country. It did nothing to fix the problem.

It was the prefect bill for progressive Democrats. If it passed, the illegals could continue to flood the country. If it didn't pass, you could blame the Republicans and still let the illegals flood the country. It's a win - win for Democrats.

I know it's one of the few talking points your party has other than the Trump trial circuses. You don't have anything else so you keep bringing it up.

Apparently you misunderstood me. My intent was to say if we did take money from military aid to spend on the Southern Border why would we take it only from The Ukraine but not across the board.

Surrendering to Putin was not an option, but conservative Senator Lankford's major border security legislation should not have been killed by those who feel perpetuating the crisis is in their partisan interests.

“The border security bill will put a huge number of new enforcement tools in the hands of a future administration and push the current Administration to finally stop the illegal flow. The bill provides funding to build the wall, increase technology at the border, and add more detention beds, more agents, and more deportation flights. The border security bill ends the abuse of parole on our southwest border that has waived in over a million people. It dramatically changes our ambiguous asylum laws by conducting fast screenings at a higher standard of evidence, limited appeals, and fast deportation.

“New bars to asylum eligibility will stop the criminal cartels from exploiting our currently weak immigration laws. The bill also has new emergency authorities to shut down the border when the border is overrun, new hiring authorities to quickly increase officers, and new hearing authorities to quickly apply consequences for illegal crossings. It changes our border from catch and release to detain and deport.

“Our immigration laws have been weak for years. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to close our open border and give future administrations the effective tools they need to stop the border chaos and protect our nation.”

The bill was just a stuffer, filled with all kinds of provisions to keep "catch and release" in place. They would have passed that just to take the pressure off their ultimate goal.

The “basis whatsoever” is a simple matter of policy coupled with results backed by Border Agent testimony. Biden rescinds Trump policies and the results speak for themselves.

To believe otherwise in the era of Democrat DAs picking and choosing whatever law they feel like enforcing resulting in waves of criminals let out on no bail is simply partisan driven Kool aid drinking. And you appear to be downing it by the gallon. “Powerless President”—What a joke

This is news to me. I guess I missed something. Please post the number of that bill for a look see. Or just post the part that applies to our southern border.

Which policy are you talking about? He HAD to end provisions that responded to the Covid emergency because...there is no longer a Covid emergency (according to MAGAs, there never was one). The policy he DID rescind was the one by which he ordered the separation of children from their parents to inflict severe suffering for the purpose of, in Trump's words, "so they don't want to come". This is the definition of torture in our legal system. Even though it's illegal the worst part about it is that it's barbaric!

I don't "believe" or "disbelieve" anything of the kind. I just go by the facts. For example, there is no doubt in my mind that torture is effective. Is that the provision you are clamoring for? When I say a president has "no powerless" to do something, what I'm saying is that it's illegal. He CAN do it. But it's abuse of power. Trump couldn't care less about the law. So he just did it anyway. I DO happen to be a believer... not just in the rule of law... but more so in not committing crimes against humanity like... torture.... I do know white supremacists don't agree with me on this.

Border Patrol union backs Senate immigration bill despite House GOP opposition

The union that represents front-line Border Patrol agents supports the Senate immigration reform bill, saying the new authorities it gives agents to turn migrants away are a key step in the right direction.

"This is absolutely better than what we currently have," National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told ABC News.

When the new expulsion authorities are triggered, agents will work to quickly turn migrants back to Mexico. Judd said he was confident this new authority combined with more detention resources will reduce illegal crossings.

Why don't they just turn 'em back now? Our leaders are playing politics. With over 10 million already here and more coming this is not going to end well. Already disastrous for our citizens who have been murdered by these illegals. Not to mention the thousands of US citizens killed by the illegal drugs smuggled in.
