Cisco announced 4000 layoffs. Are we seeing a slow down in the technical sector? The market is reacting to the news. http://www.cnbc.com/id/100964580
Or is it just another company pursuing short-term super-profits to keep the shareholders happy? Pity that it could lead to longer term decay of the business but what the hell, it's all about next FY results these days.
I never thought of that. Did you see what the analyst said about the CEO's comments. They thought he was gettin ready to downsize because of poor earnings expectations.
That would make sense. By the way I can't lay claim to that piece of alternative thinking, I saw it in an online tech publication and it sort of stuck in my mind. But it did take me back to the bad old days of "re-engineering" and "Chainsaw" Al Dunlap. Lose good people and you have a hard time getting them back when they're needed.
I think its a trend about capital and how its used in this case techs and finances being moved to where they are most needed. I feel America is still shedding intellectual or technical capital as well as financial after almost 20 years. This is amazing to watch.
