several years ago, Ian Anderson was on the "thick as a brick tour". He had a younger Opera singer with him. None of the normal Tull guys I used to see in the 70s. really good stuff. they also did a bunch of Tull standards after doing Thick as a brick \. Best part was this-though they did not do the reprise that is on the second side of the original record. cannot find any youtube from that tour though

Does anyone remember Maria McKee? I only knew her from one song that her band, Lone Justice, made a little splash with, called "Shelter." Apparently, they & she had been a bit of a shooting star, in the late 1980s. I see Maria even sang with John Mellancamp, at the Farm Aid concert.

Anyway, she sings with a lot of passion & sensuality; unfortunately, they didn't have a lot of good songs. But I don't easily tire, from watching her perform "Shelter."

    The Official Video

    "Wheels"

    "Pass It On"

And, for now, one more live version, of "Shelter"

Eric Clapton and Stevie Winwood together again for the first time. Hope it suits your mood just now.

Here is a sampling of more of the stuff by Lone Justice/Maria McKee. This first one is my favorite, infusing both Blues and a Rock vibe, into their more typically Country Western sound. Closest song I can compare it to would be Black Velvet, but it's much better than that, IMO. Not unlike something that Bonnie Raitt might do, though the vocals are belted out a little harder.

Dreams Come True (Say They Do)

Next, is an upbeat Country Western Diddy:
    Working Late

This is a pretty love song, with a folksy Gospel feel:
    You Are the Light

A Country - Pop music Crossover:
    My Lonely Sad Eyes

This last one is a Country Western Torch Song (also Blues- based):
    Don't Toss Us Away

one of the reasons I love the Dead is the intricate jams and the fact that in thousands of hours of recordings (the most recorded act in history), they can play the same song 40 times and all sound different. This is a very early version of China Cat sunflower followed by one of the greatest jam pieces-the Eleven (a number they quit playing about a year later, because it was so hard on the band-especially its writer-Phil Lesh)

A really good, very lovely song, that I haven't thought about, in quite a while.

Have you heard the Linda Ronstadt cover? I'm not a huge fan of hers, overall, but this is nice rendition, with Ann Savoy.

Though I prefer the one above, here is a quicker, shorter version, which also includes the Four Tops, doing background vocals.

And I just discovered this interesting cover, by Cyndi Lauper & Peter Kingsbery

Here is the top version, again, with a different video.

P.S.-- I just found out that the writer of this song, Michael Brown (who died in 2015, at age 65), wrote this classic, at the age of just 16!

P.P.S-- Oh, btw, among the Lone Justice songs, in my last post, I like #1 & then #3 (You Are the Light) best (at this point).

Theme song from the first R rated movie I ever watched. It was a special time in my life.

probably the best lady pop/rock vocalist of that era in the States. across the pond, Maddy Prior, Sandy Denny and Annie Haslam were in the same league

I'm not enthralled with the music, but I will say that she has impressive breath control, especially considering her svelt frame (and that she is somewhat of a babe).

That was when she was 12. She is now 25 and has a beautiful voice for clasical music. Sadly she has had breast cancer and hopefully will be back soon. My musical taste is for Classical music and choral music. Sadly not on here.
