I don't know enough about the geography, demography or development of the problem in the Ukraine to apportion blame accurately, or to answer the question: who-started-it?

But I do know if we run things the way we usually do, here from the US, the military will run part of our involvement, politicians a bigger part, and with the weapons makers leading both, this war could run for another two years.

And there won't be any winners, just losers. Well, except for the weapons makers (often called 'defense contractors' (sic)), who will get many billions of dollars, private jets, that sort of thing.

I'm not looking so much for blankets, but for thoughts on how the situation can go on hold for a while and boundaries get drawn and the area demilitarized.

Tensions eased and a semi-permanent armistice so time can heal.

A perfect solution isn't what we need, just something that allows people to live.

Our perfect solution for the evil leader of Iraq, Saddam Husein, ended with him dead, and a million others dead too.

We've got this wrong so many times, and so badly wrong, that just any idea anyone has is worth thinking about.
