A number of conservatives consistently claim that homosexuality is a choice. But what exactly does that mean? We need to clear up some terms here. I think the first hurdle is defining what it means to be homosexual. There appear to be two ideas of what it means to be a homosexual. 1. Someone who is sufficiently attracted to members of the same sex that he or she would pursue members of the same sex for romantic or sexual encounters. 2. Someone who has sex with members of the same sex. Does someone choose to be sufficiently attracted to members of the same sex that he or she would pursue members of the same sex for romantic or sexual encounters? Does someone choose to have sex with members of the same sex? (Let's assume consent).
