And, quelle horreur! Even the Founding Fathers thought that economic equality was necessary to preserve democracy.

But I guess these guys - so often held to be right on things that matter to oligarchs - were wrong on this, huh?.

What right do you have to use the police powers of the state to force others to provide these things for you?

What do you think tax is? Or military conscription?

    Please pay attention.

Tax and military conscription are things supported by "police powers".

I thought even you might have grasped the concept by now.

Society enforces its values with compulsion where compulsion is necessary to ensure the best for society.

Who is 'Society', and what is 'the best' for it?

You must now link to the legs in question and exposit how the legs in question link to what, if anything, you are saying.

"Society" doesn't do anything. It is not a thing that can act, but a conceptual label for an aggregate of individuals. Only individuals can act.

However, I see what you are getting at. You contend that might makes right and that the end justifies the means. So what happened to FDR's 2nd bill of rights is what always happens in matters of power. Those that believe they shoud be appointed to rule over others because they know what is best for everyone else were corrupted by the power and serve their interests instead.
But, as you point out, might makes right, so there is nothing wrong with what those in power do.

I hope not. Since it symbolizes open-mindness and thinking, I don't want to wind up closed minded and unthinking like those who can't rationally explain the reasons why they think something is right or wrong. So far, you've not been able to rationally answer the simple question I posed, so where does that leave you?

FDRs "Second Bill of Rights" was the product of a dying man who knew he was dying and articulated shortly before he died.

His economic policies had already become of only secondary importance to the U.S. and have now largely been discredited.

If you read the book "The Leaders We Deserved (And a Few We Didn't)" that analyzes the presidents you will find that James Madison was very, very poor when it came to economic policies.

Did Madison wrote a bill of economic rights too?

    How did FDR's become "discredited"?

There is a growing consensus among economists that the actions FDR took to alleviate suffering during the Great Depression actually prolonged it.

Just as the stimulus that the Obama admin. passed is probably prolonging this current recession.

See the book I previously mentioned and the section on economic policy.

As for others, I've taught economics in the past but my textbooks are in my snowed in classroom right now.

And you did not source your material in any event.
