Do you mean "cold turkey"? Some will see and understand the truth in Agnosticism, others will find some sort of solitude in Atheism, and the remaining population is going to have a difficult time learning to get up each and every day.

Your worldview seems to be that people need an invisible man in the sky to keep them in-line. That is certainly a negative commentary on the human race and I hope you are wrong. The problem of course for you and others who agree is this peskly thing called science which makes a return to traditional religions impossible for anyone who has critical thinking.

BTW, belief in an invisible man often produces results that are not pleasent.

No, it isn't. Double negatives don't fly.

My abandoning of theism and embracing of science has made my life better. As for totalitarianism, it is not limited to secularism as it also pops up in theism. Monotheism is not a Democratic by its nature. I do not want totalitarianism whether it be liberal, conservative, theistic or atheistic in nature.

You dislike wokeness, political correctness, anarchy and socialism, and you look like a jihadi. :D

What's your real message? Should we all turn away from this world and strive for a new life in paradise?

It actually is. Atheism isn't a lack of belief, it's a belief that there is no god, with no evidence required. So it's really the mirror version of a theist, who believes there is a god, with no evidence required.

You are right in one sense but wrong in the sense that matters most.

I've been working on this issue for over 60 yrs and I researched so many religions etc, and when I landed on Science of MIND aka Religious Science, it was liike I found my home.

Then coming in contact with Julia Sweeney (Letting Go of God) and then around the same time coming in contact with Former Priest Blase Bonpane (Imagine No Religion) was it more sealed for me.

If there is more I'll be pleased.

Secular morality boils down to long-term best outcomes. The core of this is not harming other people. This is the best for long-term because of reciprocity and stability. If a baker is harmed continuously by theft, they must invest in security and otherwise divert energy away from their specialty, possibly depriving their area of the availability of convenient baked goods. While the thief may benefit in the short run, in the long run everybody is harmed by the baker not being able to function optimally. Thus it is only logical that we punish and deter thieves.

The bible says many things are wrong, some of which make sense, some of which made sense at the time, and some of which make no sense. I think of the lesson of god testing Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son. The lesson of this is to obey god no matter what, but given that god doesn't exist, and even if god does exist who can really know they're talking to god, it means people can use the bible to justify whatever atrocity the voices in their heads tell them to. The bible does an inferior job to plain logic in determining a moral, and productive course of action.

The lesson of what you described is that religious belief in the supernatural is not the only potential source of destructive delusion. Nationalism/patriotism is also quite capable of motivating atrocities. The problem isn't the lack of religion, the problem is the belief in the validity of faith over logic and evidence. Worship of anything is to be avoided.

I think you are using the term "believe" incorrectly. I doubt it is grammatically correct to say, "I believe there is no god". I am sure you can say, "There is no god and I firmly believe that" but in that case, it is in the notion that there is no god that you believe. Atheists disbelieve in god, they don't believe there is no god.

No, I phrased it exactly as I intended to. The key notion is belief without evidence; something shared by atheists and theists alike.

I doubt any proper sentence has ever been muttered, "I believe he doesn't exist" or "I believe it didn't happen". It doesn't make sense. "I don't believe" is the correct expression and that puts us back to square one that suggests you are wrong.

Suggestion that religion is the same as atheism?

You don't see that as an insult on religion???

Please remember that atheism includes no god, no supernatural, and not even any philosophy.

And you think religion should gladly tolerate that as a valid comparison?
