"In a call on Monday while reporting financial results, the Hertz executive team revealed that the cost of maintaining its newer Tesla EV fleet is 50-60 per cent below their ICE fleet." https://thedriven.io/2022/08/05/her...ct-cheaper-to-maintain-than-fossil-fuel-cars/ Here's the Bloomberg link, but they require you to register. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ental-market-shake-up?leadSource=uverify wall There have been many claims of reduced maintenance costs for EVs. It appears these are panning out in a car rental environment. I believe Hertz bought a bunch of Polestar EVs as well as it's Tesla purchase.
How long before rental agencies move to EVs? It won't be immediate, as EVs are rapidly reducing in price, but haven't really reached the point of attractiveness to rental agencies. But, it can't be long. Rental agencies can't afford to simply suck up the additional maintenance costs of ICE vehicles. The average car buyer can't really afford that, either, but this is a change and change doesn't happen immediately.
