Republican In Name Only. What does that mean? If a Republican voted with over 200 Democrats for something, would that make them a RINO? Here are the Republican House members who voted with ALL the Democratic House members to oust McCarthy Rep. Andy Biggs (Ariz.) Rep. Ken Buck (Colo.) Rep. Matt Gaetz (Fla.) Rep. Nancy Mace (S.C.) Rep. Tim Burchett (Tenn.) Rep. Eli Crane (Ariz.) Rep. Bob Good (Va.) Rep. Matthew M. Rosendale (Mont.) I would think that voting with over 200 Democrats to oust the Republican Speaker of the House would be something that would guarantee you a spot on any RINO list.
A RINO would be a pro-establishment Republican that tends to be left of the majority of Republicans. I do not believe that description applies to any of the above. It is not defined by a unique situation such as this where they vote the same way as Democrats but for very different reasons.
A RINO is a politician who is not completely loyal to Trump and/or to the new movement towards the fascism that dominates the Republican Party today.
Exactly. The word Republican has lost the definition it had for 150 years. It's now Trump who determines who is or isn't a good Conservative.
I totally agree. I always thought Trump and his MAGA followers were RINO’s. They decided to follow a man devoid of a political ideology. The 7-time party switcher has adopted whatever political philosophy of the party he belonged to at the time. Trump never had a political philosophy of his own. They have thrown traditional conservatism, conservative ideology, values, ideals out the window to follow a man with no political ideology, values or ideals.
So from specifically meaning fealty to Trump you now have changed it to meaning politicians “like” him. Whatever that even means
A RINO votes on bills that mostly benefit Democrats. No bills were involved. Because McCarthy didn’t support the January 6 committee Democrats helped remove him. Probably shot themselves in the foot.
The current conspicuous RINOs are the cultists of Trumpery, an invasive species that has only infested and infected the GOP since 2016. Their notable alienation from traditional conservative values includes a predilection for dogma over data, a fierce submission to authoritarianism (antagonistic to the Party's long-standing libertarian inclinations), a contempt for law and order (amply demonstrated by their savage attack on outnumbered police defending democracy), and a fanatical devotion to a fraud, a lying loser now being subjected to U.S. law like everyone else. (That makes him and them very pissy.)
Do you retain any memory of what you yourself post? YOU were the one who introduced the topic of RINO "long before" Trump. "Long before" Trump, the word RINO used to mean anybody like... TRUMP! In other words, somebody who is not a conservative.
Which ones? Have there been no big spending bills when a Repub was in the WH and pushed by the Repub president? I’m willing to bet BOTH sides put in big spending bills.
Like a lot of terms that we use in politics, like "Fascism," it's long outgrown it's usefulness and really isn't very descriptive anymore.
I don't really care how Republican they are, I care about how well they secure the rights of the folks they have sworn to serve.
I believe it to mean one that doesn't tow the party line. In order to have a D or an R by ones name, one must turn off their minds and tow the line.
