Canada as both a source and destination of the US drug market. Estimates are that Canada, primarily British Columbia supply about one third of the US marijuana demand, high grade pot that trades at even dollars for cocaine and guns. Twice, the United Nations has declared Canada a "drug exporting country" and still law enforcement does not have the manpower to stop more than .01% of the grow operations. It is also estimated that the hydroponically grown pot is five to ten times as powerful as that coming out of Central and South America.... And no, I am not a user.
My point was "nothing exported from the USA" but looking at Canada either they're all protestants or making their own shhtuff for their own use. Might be a point there...
What's missing is how demand drives the market. The map, at first glance, makes it look like we've got a lot of drug problems coming from other nations, but the only reason we do is because of how much we consume in drugs. But yeah, we really do need to decriminalize and legalize a lot of drugs now. There's no sense in fighting such a large market that essentially centers on "victimless crimes."
Well yeah... you could make the same argument against alcohol or cigarettes. Both of those have effects on fetal development. I was restricting the argument to personal use. Use during pregnancy is entirely different from most usage.
Taxation?? I'd be more interested in a chart showing the locations of the banks, homes of the politicians and which governments that financially benefit the most, from the drug trade and the organized criminal corporate venture known as the "war on drugs".
