I am neither. Who am I to determine for another whether such is appropriate?

So you think that ANYTHING should be able to happen to someone, as long as they deem it to be appropriate for them?

"In pain and dying." Did you read my post, or even the title of this thread?

Untreatable depression? That's actually a thing?

I remember this case and was shocked that he decided to do the same thing when it was his choice - no one wants to make this choice, but sometimes we have too

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/nov/04/usa.health

"But, given the vehemence with which he has been fighting to prolong Terri's life, it is a little surprising to learn that Robert decided to turn off the life-support system for his mother."

Robert says. "I was very angry with God because I didn't want to make those decisions."

Pulling the plug on a loved one, look up the definition...

the patient should make the choice, the next of kin when they can not

No, I am saying that each case is unique and I am not sure what the best way to deal with this is [I am not sure anybody else does either]. It's one of those things that will evolve until a general consensus is reached.

The interesting thing is that all matters are like this...it's just that we've already reached consensus...for example, you are considered an adult at 18 years of age, or that you must attend school, etc.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euthanasia

"Euthanasia is the practice of intentionally ending life to eliminate pain and suffering. Different countries have different euthanasia laws. "

So how would that describe life support being switched off for a coma patient?

Good to see that you think that euthanasia should be strictly limited to those who are "in pain and dying."

You dwell too much in irrelevant nonsense. If there is, it's a motive.... if there isn't there isn't. Irrelevant to my point.

it's intentionally ending life to eliminate pain and suffering, the person really though is already decease

I think you meant assisted suicide or death with dignity

or dying, not and, yes, I would put my pets to sleep if they were suffering and would be for the rest of their life too, most would

I should be able to decide when I have had enough of this life, it's my life, my choice

I believe in an afterlife, so do not fear it, many don't, and I get the fear in that case, they can choose to suffer if they wish, as they think this life is all there is

You just totally made up the idea of "untreatable depression", plain and simple.
