Simple question........ Pick only one. What is the trait that bothers you most when you see it in a politician? Feel free to add your own and explain (other).
Dishonesty. I'm not positive about this, as I can think of a lot of despicable traits that seem quite common in politicians. But I think that dishonesty is sort of the ultimate enabler of those other traits. A dishonest but compassionate politician could conceivably use that dishonesty in compassionate pursuits, but I think that when you're governing people, dishonesty toward those people has to be seen as inherently discompassionate (new word!)
Me too. All ills stem from that place in which people will do or say whatever they want in order to gain. An honest man cannot be bought, and will not cheat on his wife.
I didn't vote in your poll. There are several traits that I think are very damaging to the country. I despise hypocrisy. That is why I hate "family values" politicians like Sara Palin who tell me how to live my life but then snort coke and fornicate will 'ball players in her free time. I also hate liars like Michell Bachmann. Her reckless attempt to smear Perry spread misinformation about a life saving vaccine. I found her behavior extremely disgusting. I also hate corruption. Mitt "Corporations Are People" Romney has been totally corrupted by corporate money. I also do not like the idea of unions giving money en masse to political candidates. Corporate money and union money should be banned from politics.
I don't care what a man or woman does with their spouse as long at it is legal. I am just sick and tired of hypocritical "family values" politicians telling me how to live my life while they snort coke and fornicate with college 'ball players.
Bully for you. I care, not because of your contrived disdain for moral clarity, but because a man who cannot keep his word is inherently untrustworthy. Save your pathetic sermons for the study hall crowd.

That's a bit cynical isn't it? I'm all for being realistic but I think that's taking things a bit far. Don't you think?
Dishonesty is winning out so far as the most despicable trait. I wonder it would be accurate to project that honesty would be the most desirable trait in a politician.....
"I plan to fix the economy by sending out roving bands of thugs to beat up people I don't like and steal from the rest." That would go over well.
