Yesterday in Spain the Worker's Union of Andalucia, SAT(Sindicato Andaluz de Trabajadores) made a visual action where they stole 3 shopping troleys filled with basic products like rice,... all from white trademarks. This visual action with the intention to give this "expropiated" food will be given to food banks to be distributed to people do not have resources.

The supermarket stolen is a Mercadona supermarket, the biggest chain of supermarkets of Spain, and famous for their awful treatment to workers and farmers, giving extremely bad conditions.

The action, propaganda for deed I think that it was necessary to generate discussion and to show the real inequalities of the society, where there is people that does not have anything while there are people that are stealing, like bankers, in great quantites, taking to the bankrupcy to a whole country and they are not persecuted neither anything.

Do you believe that this actions are good to wake up the conscience of the people of the situation? And the things can be changed.

Other actions taken by the SAT are occupations of public lands and private lands of big landowners that are unproductive, to work it.

Today the government has manifestated that will prosectue the perprators of this "robbery", however the government has not taken action in bigger robberies than this one like the one of the husband(Urdangarin) of the "Infanta" Cristina, the daughter of the King, and less against here while there are a lot of proofs that she is implied in that robberies.

Well, I'm not sure. Depends who owns the market. Are we talking about the present day Mitt Romney, for example? Or, a regular Joe?

One incident of this magnitude has zero impact on the owners of the company... or the poor. It's just symbolism. Now if there were repeated thefts obviously that has to be addressed. After all private citizens cannot be allowed to just arbitrarily decide who can steal and from whom. The only reason we have laws against theft is because it happens a lot. If it only happened once and to a billion dollar company no one would care.

Present day. This action was taken yesterday. The owner of the supermarket is one of the richest people of SPain, and known for his abusive treatment to workers and providers. Giving really bad conditions to both.

The action was taken also by a Spanish diputate and mayor, Gordillo and his worker's union, the SAT.

Well, under that scenario...the answer is simple. Absolutely I approve of the action.

Yeap, the action was done for its symbolism. But the repercusion in Spain has been really big, the reactions from the conservative government have not waited and they demand even prison for the members of the Worker's Union that did this. It has created a lot of discussion and has shown the face and hipocresy of the government.

Tough one. There are circumstances under which I would think this was justified, but I honestly don't know enough about the situation. Intellectually I'm pretty sure that ownership is arbitrary, and if people really needed the food and there was no other way to get it to them, that's one thing. But I was raised in a capitalist culture like most other people, and stealing just seems wrong.

If someone robbed Goldman Sachs and gave money to the poor I would probably cheer.

Robbery is against the law. Treat them like any other lawbreaker. What they do with the items they stole is beside the point.

We could treat them like rich lawbreakers and either ignore what they did or give them a ton of money.

Do you mean we should treat them like poor lawbreakers?

Theft. The union should be abolished and the thieves should be arrested. That'd make a good example that the wannabe commie revolutionairies can be scared of.

I don't agree with this in particular. More like, food is easy to grow, so you can grow it in your own home.

Propaganda of the deed that doesn't involve bombing bridges and railroads, or indiscriminately smashing windows and flipping cars?.... sounds good to me. Certainly the way it should be done.

no they don't. Possession of marijuana isnt even technically a crime in some states.

Although im sure they dont give parking tickets for murder in sweden either. Perhaps that was your point.

Making these big time CEOs whom would not exist if it weren't for statist force which favors big businesses..slightly less greedily materially rich..is morally probably a crime when you consider the *way* that these people went about it, but then, CEOs existing is almost a crime IMO.

yeah, basically my personal ideal society (economically) would be one dominated by many competing smaller businesses.

However, some things (such as car companies) require a lot of start up investment. But I believe that if huge companies became prominent in a stateless or very small-state society (which I doubt), they wouldn't feasibly be able to impose retarded rules on employees such as not being allowed to smoke MJ when you don't even do a dangerous/risky job to were that would make you more risky, etc.

Society has become incredibly detached from human relations it's pretty disturbing to see so many people claiming the SAT wrong. If someone is in need why would you horde food from them why would you exploit your employees? Those are the people who have a serious disillusion with morality and try to justify it with ancient laws of a militaristic tyranny and the factious writing of modern economics. However society is built from the top down with these in mind so of coarse these have become the new morality.

yeah, basically it's "ok we've used overly big statist force to give ourselves legal force over vast amounts of resources, and if you want these resources, come try and get your head blown off and/or thrown in a place of torment for it, you (*)(*)(*)(*)ing peasant scumbags". That's the attitude that these pro-big government people-BOTH of the Marxist and hierarchial corporate capitalism persuasion-have.
